Christmas Saving accounts 2025

  • re. good-rate reg savers which might spring up soon, I'm keeping an eye on Skipton. For their existing member regular saver, the 12 months expires 11th January, and with many of those accounts maturing that day or shortly after for those who opened them quite quickly after launch 11/1/2024. They currently have paid adverts on facebook promoting their "member savers" of which there is only actually one offering currently, i.e. the one I just mentioned which expires 11th Jan. So I figure they may launch something to replace.
    - Their 3 previous member reg savers had good rates (9, 7.5, 7) and £250 pm. The 9% was obviously more than a year ago when rates started steaming, so not be expecting as high, but probably still something 'good' in relation to current base rates and a falling rates environment.

You would have to be a member obviously to open a member saver, but last year there wasn't a minimum membership duration with Skipton, and a small easy access saver opened the previous week counted !
It’s not a Regular Saver but OH has a Skipton Bonus Saver maturing in early January. It was £3k at 5.5% which was a useful home for maturing Christmas savers. I’m wondering if it will roll over, or they will offer something else.

Our RS with Skipton are 7% fixed and mature in June.

  • @Sarahspangles, unfortunately not, the Member Bonus Saver is reducing to 3.30% when it comes to an end. Below was contained in an email received from Skipton a couple of days ago.

The bonus interest rate on your savings account is coming to an end

We’re getting in touch to let you know about a reduction to the interest rate on your Member Bonus Saver 1 A.

From midnight on 14 January 2025, in accordance with the terms and conditions of your account, the interest rate of 5.00% gross pa ⁄ AER† variable (inclusive of the bonus) on the above account will end.

From this date your new interest rate will be 3.30% gross pa ⁄ AER† variable. For full details, please refer to the original product literature that was provided to you when you opened the account. If you need another copy, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

That will be in OH’s spam folder then!  It will have to go into the account where next year’s ISA contribution is building up.

Bridlington just announced  it will be 5%variable, £150 per month and runs until 31 October 2025.
They don't seem very excited  by the news though.

Though if you don't already have a YBS account it's a good account to open speculatively with £1 in order to at the very least qualify for future loyalty accounts.
