@happybagger I know all too well how lingering and painful bereavements can be! I very much admire your inner resolve to go forward in very difficult circumstances and wish you only the very best both now and in the future!happybagger said:

12 months ago I had a lot of anger inside me in the run up to christmas following two bereavements. Thankfully managed to give myself a bit of a mental "kick" and get back on track.3 -
My better half asked me a day or two ago what I was most looking forward to over Christmas holidays ...... I said "January 2nd"!
I am now officially labelled as a Grumpy Old Git .... I think I'll have a badge made

Well, l started this thread to ask about seasonal RS's, and it's turned into How l personally feel about the Christmas season.
It's nice to read about the human part of some of your forum users instead of just hearing about who opened what and what the interest is.
I hope whatever you or loved one feels about this time of year it a good time for you, whatever that entails.

Something we would all enjoy for Christmas would be the appearance on December 25th of a shiny new Santa Claus Regular Saver offering:-
- a fixed interest rate of 10% AER for two years
- max monthly deposit of £1000, no minimum monthly deposit required
- unlimited withdrawals (or early closure) without notice or penalty
- available to all who have been good boys or girls
- online application and management
- an annual prize draw offering an all-expense paid trip to Lapland for 2 boys/girls in December 2025 and 2026.

Preferably with a nice maturity regular saver to follow with the option to carry over the full balance of the maturing Santa Clause Regular Saver to it.Hattie627 said:Something we would all enjoy for Christmas would be the appearance on December 25th of a shiny new Santa Claus Regular Saver offering:-- a fixed interest rate of 10% AER for two years

Goodness gracious me!!! There was me thinking that Jesus had the original, best ever Christmas presents with all that Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh from the 3 Kings from the East! And then along comes this amazing, fantasy regular savings account with some very attractive perks attached to it that appears to have made the 3 Kings' very generous gifts seem completely inadequate by comparison! It's simply incredible, it really is!Bridlington1 said:

Only message I'll put up as the Thread Police will be buttoning up their anoraks at any minute if some of the other threads are anything to go by.cricidmuslibale said:
Whilst I entirely agree that any regular saver with a favourable interest rate and reasonable terms and conditions is definitely worth going for right now, I always feel that it is a real shame when anyone feels that they either 'couldn't give a sod about Christmas' or, worse still, despises the entire festive season (Christmas and New Year) and all the enjoyment (and yes also, unfortunately, trouble) that it tends to bring.Bridlington1 said:
Yes, but I couldn't give a sod about Christmas to be honest, it's the regular savers I'm after and I couldn't care less what they're called.Bob2000 said:

Principality BS have given me 2 Christmas regular savers this year with a third likely, I've got Coventry's Seasonal RS in the pipeline, hopefully YBS and Furness shall come up with something again shortly, possibly others? etc.
Christmas in particular can be a very special time of year, a time for sharing with and giving to others, which I personally think we need more than ever right now in the deeply uncertain and fast-moving world that we currently live in. Today, for example, I joined with a choir to sing carols and other Christmas songs at a very famous National Trust managed country park not too far from where I live. There were quite a few children in the audiences for both performances, and the sheer innocent joy on their faces when we sang 'Jingle Bells' and 'Jingle Bell Rock' whilst they jingled and jangled the hand bells that we had lent them was simply wonderful to behold!
I get ALL points of view - to me Christmas IS magical, just seeing all the lights outside is so nice, hearing carols as you rightly mention.
Autumn and Winter are by far my favourite times of year, I love dark nights and hate the sunshine (more through health now than choice).
But (less important) if you work in retail it literally begins after the August Bank Holiday so tbh by October you're fed up with it.
And (infinitely more importantly) if you have family health concerns or personal difficulties it can be heartbreaking knowing the Christmas you so dearly want isn't going to happen.
Won't say any more other than I'm in the last group unfortunately.
Edit - my sympathies are with Hattie627 and happybagger.5 -
re. good-rate reg savers which might spring up soon, I'm keeping an eye on Skipton. For their existing member regular saver, the 12 months expires 11th January, and with many of those accounts maturing that day or shortly after for those who opened them quite quickly after launch 11/1/2024. They currently have paid adverts on facebook promoting their "member savers" of which there is only actually one offering currently, i.e. the one I just mentioned which expires 11th Jan. So I figure they may launch something to replace.
- Their 3 previous member reg savers had good rates (9, 7.5, 7) and £250 pm. The 9% was obviously more than a year ago when rates started steaming, so not be expecting as high, but probably still something 'good' in relation to current base rates and a falling rates environment.
You would have to be a member obviously to open a member saver, but last year there wasn't a minimum membership duration with Skipton, and a small easy access saver opened the previous week counted !8
