I've also sploshed bleach down the loo. Ooo must order my repeat prescription. I'll do that while I'm sat down.
HB - chocolate on Christmas cake isn't something I've heard of so I think not done in these parts. Marzipan and royal icing is the norm. I believe that's what the icing is called 🤔. Hoping to find some such in my Christmas package from DSil. As well as gingerbread reindeer and shortbread stars. All homemade by my great niece. It's tradition!
'Seeing people I like' cannot be overestimated as a pastime. I'm going to be doing that a lot over the next few days. No peopling today or Boxing Day though. A people sandwich for Christmas 😊

Morning all,
Welcome back, Dizzy! Small really can’t be choosing his GCSEs, can he??!
Narc0, beautiful flowers, as always. I was going to ask for a cheeky photo earlier, but thought that you might have too much on your plate this year to humour such a request, so thank you 😊.
So, last day at work yesterday. I came home an emotional wreck. Lots of tears on all sides, which I can honestly say has never happened to me before when I have left a job. The house looks like a florist as flowers kept arriving, and I have a super generous voucher to spend in the new year.
This morning, I need to get my (slightly sore 😉) head together and Do Something.
Wm x1 is just about to finish. I have sorted out the fridge, which had the Mr M delivery shoved in it by DH when it arrived on Thursday. How much cheese did DH buy???
DD came home yesterday, a day earlier than planned. She is still asleep as she looks like she has been burning the candle at both ends since the exams finished. She is planning a baking day today, so the kitchen will smell amazing but look like a whirlwind has hit it.
On my list for today - finish the present wrapping (keeps me away from the kitchen chaos) and think about what we are eating for the next few days. I finished knitting DD’s Christmas socks, so I need to explore my wool stash and see what is next for my needles.
Love to all x6 -
Morning all. Yesterday wasn't very productive, as I decided after having lunch with DD to look around the shops while in town.
My list for today
Family festive visit to the local safari park and Christmas market.
Visit MIL to drop off festive goodies.
Hoover the living room carpet
Change the hose on the shower
Dust the living room
Take the dog for a long walk
Dust the bedroom including high dusting
Remove rubbish from the bathroom
HHI
Tidy up the clothes that are lying around the bedroom
Sweep the bathroom floor and mop
Write last of the festive cards
Wrap some more presents
S&S bathroom
Wipe the mirrors
I think that is everything that I need to tackle today. I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.5 -

There's a pile of paperwork waiting for attention so I'll include the list making in HH Admin. Sounds like a plan.

Banking checked, dog walked, dailies and hoovering done.Spend less now, work less later.7

Second load of washing has had an extra spin and is now on the airer.
HH Admin wasn't long enough to get it all done but I've made a good start.
All wrapping paraphernalia has been put away. Spare Christmas cards will be taken upstairs and put in the Christmas drawer.
Taking a lunch break then I'm going to finish that Admin.

More Admin done. I seem to have generated a pile of paper to be shredded. That's my next to do then: shredding

Evening all - so lovely to have been welcomed home - feels like I've never been away
I had my last shift of the year at the Pie Parlour today, with the owner V, and had a fabulous day - lots of lovely customers popped in to eat and chat and had a wonderful group book for afternoon tea. They turned up dressed in vintage 1940 outfits - really looked great! V and her hubby are off on a cruise around the Med over Christmas and New Year, lucky pair! Meanwhile, I'll be cooking for the residents at the rehab unit over the festive period, so will be a busy bee. DH and boys are going down south for a few days when I'm working to see family and friends and we will have our Crimble celebrations a day or two later than most of you.
DH is the big 50 on NYE, so I've arranged a lunch meet with all the children, his best mate and some close friends at a mid-point for all near Oxford, then we are back to Wales for a party in the evening, which the football team he coaches have organised for him. The end of 2024 will be celebrated to the max in this neck of the woods.
Your flowers look beautiful Narc0 - so talented!
As some of you may remember, my house is packed full of dogs, so is never as clean and tidy as I might like, but 2025 will be the year of change. The Welsh Government has identified my house as being of historical importance and have fully funded an enormous set of custom-made flood barriers for the driveway gates, which "should" see the end of our devastating water dramas....at least from the river...we will still have to contend with rising ground water, but that's a walk in the park, so, with this good news, I'm determined to sort, tidy and decorate my gorgeous home and finally be able to enjoy living here. I'll be cutting down my working hours next year, as I'm close to burn-out now. I worked out I was averaging 60 hours of paid cooking work each week for the last three months. It can't continue, despite me enjoying the extra income and chance to pay off some debt. I need to balance things a bit better as Tiny is missing me at home (Small is a teenager, so I'm not sure what he thinks, as he generally only grunts to communicate ATM).
Did get a great bargain on Faceache Marketplace yesterday - a heated airer for a tenner! I know they aren't as amazing as the manufacturers all claim - it certainly does not heat the room to any degree and you do have to shuffle the items around to get things dry, but it does mean I can get the dog blankets dried without having to ruin my tumble dryer with fluff and dog hair. Ooh! AND hubby got a nearly new Ninja duel zone air fryer for £50, which was fantastic, as I've been wanting one for an age, but refused to pay the eye-watering cost of a new one. Looks pretty well brand new. The boys have been enjoying cooking pizza slices in it after school for the past few days, so they are pleased too.
That's me for tonight - no flying to report except I got Small to dust the hallway window sill, so will try to join in, in a fashion going forward.

well about a week ago i got a message to say i’d won a prize on facebook, and today i got an email with a £150 e voucher for Mr M so i’m well chuffed. just one of those comment to win comps
pegged out washing and it almost dried in the wind so it’s been ironed and is airing.
Bed changed and i’m in it, shattered.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear5 -
Thanks for your kind comments about the flowers. Also about suggestions for Mum's presents.
- lake swim was cold! It was nice to get one in before Christmas and I chatted to a new-to-me lady as my swim buddy couldn't come (which sadly I didn't find out about until after I'd swum - the joys of technology as she'd sent me a message late last night which took about 10hrs to arrive). It's such a friendly location.
- stopped off at church on my way home in case they needed any more help with decs, but they were nearly done.
- continued listing, packing and checking. Began to relax.
- made another batch of candied orange peel as there was so much sugar water left from the first lot.
- one load washing done
- one load through DW
- friend round for coffee.
- went for a final visit to Mr S
- did BIL's flower arrangement. By then it was dark and I realised I should have picked more foliage. Ah well, the containers and oasis are all set out for the final 2, both smallish ones, and possibly a table centrepiece if there are any flowers left. Should be easily doable before the carol service at 11am.........
- oddly after weeks on eB0y, a gas fire I've been trying to sell has had an enquiry, asking for more photos then about an hour ago, saying more photos (presumably the ones I sent didn't arrive as I can't see them on the system) and they can collect tomorrow if convenient. As I've got about 2 'windows' of between getting up and going to the carol service, then between the service and setting off hopefully at 2pm, I think it's unlikely....unless they are a gas fitter and can install it before Xmas or want it as a 'thoughtful gift' - who buys a gas fire 4 days before Xmas?
- clothes packed, with some left out to put in small backpack to use for overnight at DB.
- ordered tickets for London Open Gardens (June) as they are cheaper if bought before 25th.
- ordered more bird food as a special offer appeared in my inbox.
I'm sure I'll be lurking and posting in the next few days, but have a lovely festive season everyone and safe travels for those who are moving around.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.6
