OH had it in his mind that a I need a crow bar to help me with splitting open the pallets, ready for sawing. So off he goes and comes back with said crow bar, it was 5 foot long and heavy, so it is nearly as tall as me and I cannot really lift it.!! So I get him to take it back, I go with him and come back with something about 2 foot long and much lighter, I still not really understand why I need it, but he paid for it. I now need lessons how to use it safelyFire doneCats fedBins doneKitchen sortedWarm but very windy hereBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Morning. Wordle in five, lots of options!
Yesterday I achieved everything planned plus dusted living room, thoroughly cleaned shower and s&sd bathroom and downstairs toilet.
Today I need to walk Poppet before a very early nail appointment which is why I'm up now, and make cakes ready for village event tomorrow. Everything else is now ready for that. I have checked banking and currently we're still solvent.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.7 -

Final shift at Foodbank completed, and I hope the final foodshop before the madness that is Christmas and New Year. Anything more we need we can pick up from the Co-op at the bottom of the road. Lidl have a champagne offer on of £9.99 to tempt people in - naturally the shelves are clear of that!Everything that needs to be is in the fridge, and I've sauté'd the peppers for the sweet and sour chicken recipe that does very well with leftover turkey when the time comes. I can freeze it in batches so I can mix and match when required. Shallots to sauté tomorrow, and a red cabbage thing of Delia's that keeps in the freezer and will then ding-cuisine as and when required that can do in the slow cooker while I'm shallotting, so to speak.I managed to catch up on some paperwork yesterday which has been building up for weeks, but I've still got a whole box of the stuff I scraped off my desk last week because I was drowning in it, and that demotivates me to the point of inertia. I won't be able to spring clean my office, my permanent RoD, by new year but I'm slowly working out why things are as they are and finding strategies to deal with the chaos and not forgetting to rest as and when. The next job in there is to spring clean the desk and window area. For a whole consecutive two and a half days this week I felt physically well, something I haven't experienced for decades. I know I've slightly overdone it this afternoon but that's absolutely fine because we're out tonight for a pub meal so no effort required and nothing in the diary for tomorrow so I can take it a bit easier. The problem is balancing ambition with reality.Better is good enough.7

I think I have finished all my present shopping - will check everything off in the morning. DH still has to get something (usually a gift card) for his DSis, but that is his job, not mine. There are still local cards to be hand delivered or left in our respective churches, and wrapping of presents to be done, but I should be able to finish those tomorrow. Rosie will be going out for her usual Friday walk with L. DGD1+2 need picking up from school at 12.20 and are expecting a hearty bowl of soup plus a cheese or ham roll for lunch. DS will collect them from here at around 3pm. Apart from that, the day is mine, so I might even get to enjoy an uninterrupted hour of zzz on the sofa. I still haven't caught up on all my lost sleep from last week.

I seem to be joining the WAC a bit more frequently; annoying as I haven't got any more cards to write - that's usually quite soporific.
- went to Pilates
- dropped last 2 local cards off, other than one to go to church on Sunday
- had last drum lesson which was great fun as I'd asked the last 5mins to be doing almighty crashing along to Darkness "Christmas Time: Don't let the bells end". Drum tutor loved his flower arrangement.
- filled bird feeders
- picked foliage for the next batch of arrangements. Found a fantastic fallen birch branch which I sprayed silver, so that can fill up the windowledge in church with my arrangement.
- DB and SIL's presents checked and wrapped; they are the first stop on Sunday so I'm listing what needs to be put in the car so it's accessible. Think my clothes for Sun night will comprise clean undies, toothbrush, contact lenses and moisturiser in a backpack and that's that. Well, in addition to the usual stuff that is in my backpack.
- Mum's presents, such as they are, put in a stocking. What to buy for a 93yr old in a care home?
- rang Mum's opticians as I hadn't heard whether the glasses meant to be ready and fitted tomorrow were actually ready. They have shifted it to Monday, so I'm going to get the care staff to take her in case I get stuck in traffic on my way from DBs - plus it will take us a while to empty the car.
- Rang DB for final arrangements.
- Downstairs was all vacuumed yesterday as I had a friend round to lunch.
Tomorrow I plan to sort out Mr N's presents while he is at the gym; do the church flower arrangement and hopefully start DBs. That will leave BIL and Mum's for Saturday. Oh, and Mum's neighbour. I also plan to set clothes out ready to pack on Saturday.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Morning. Five more sleeps.
We're both off now but I've got up and DH is nowhere to be seen so I can only deduce that he's decided to do final food shop for Xmas this morning. Either that or he fancied a drive!
Anyway, I will potter and walk Poppet this morning. This evening is our village event. I always worry that no one will turn up!
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.7
