Hi all,
I am seeking a PC-based personal finance system to log my incoming and outgoing.
I currently use MS Money, I love it, but it won't last forever.
Does anyone have any suggestions??

I've been using AceMoney since 2012, couldn't live without itNot free, a one off purchase, but updates for life and very easy to use

Why do you think MS Money won't last forever? Do you think Bill has built in a routine so that at some point in the future all copies will unexpectedly self destruct? If you like it, as I do, just keep using it. It's been out of support for many years but has continued to work with every iteration of Windows since then (I currently use it with 10 and 11) and I don't see any reason why that is likely to change.5

Another
for AceMoney
Used it when I went to MacBook, and then again when I went back to Windows after the MacBook failed.1 -
I use KMyMoney - a free cross-platform thing (I'm on Windows 10).
I got pee'd off with my MS Money periodically failing to fetch share/fund prices and Windows updates broke it a few times.
KMM took a bit of getting used to but it does everything I need and it's hard to argue with the price.
It can import various formats but I can't remember what MS Money can export.
I didn't bother with importing anything. I just set up all the accounts and funds from scratch and set the initial balances accordingly.

A change to Windows seems the largest risk for longer term Money support. But if you are willing to go "off piste", Wine on Linux asserts support for some versions:

I use Linux (Ubuntu) all the time, and use Wine for one or two Windows apps I can't find replacements for. I don't use Money though, so can't vouch for this support.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. I've just installed Ubuntu 24.04, followed one of the online guides and got MS Money working under Wine. Tried some of the other Linux money programs, but I've too much muscle memory invested with MS Money. Also, LIbreOffice doesn't have the horrendous ribbon that was introduced to Office.Probably doesn't help the OP much, but breaking away from the M$ ecosystem (to some extent) and enjoying the performance boost is liberating, let alone the cost saving.1 -
Agreed, the Ubuntu performance is most impressive - even on old equipment. I'm also very impressed with Calc in LibreOffice (the Excel clone). It can run all my old VBA macros, and not seen any issues with my legacy .xlsx files.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. I want to move my MS Money history to it,Everything else I've tried so far is comparatively rubbish. I'm going to worry about it when it's a problem or when someone comes up with a new feature I want e.g., something that can directly update a gmail/Outlook/iCloud calendar with upcoming SOs, DDs, interest and dividend payments.0 -
