I am sick to death of sorting-and-cleaning-type-stuff being on my mind so I'm having a day off from that faff and concentrating on things I actually enjoy doing. I made a fabulous ratatouille with veggies we had in the fridge, some cherry tomatoes that won't last much longer and are extremely dull to eat raw (obviously chilled by the supermarket before sale - so completely tasteless), a tin of plum tomatoes that expired a couple of years ago and a box of aubergine from the freezer which I fried and froze from a Lidl Too Good to Waste box a few weeks ago. There's enough to last us a good three meals so we'll be very heavy on the veg this week. I also started four batches of puff pastry because I've found a straightforward recipe that I know will work which I used the food processor to start off, so as most puff receipes involve the same weight of butter and flour I can sneak up to 50g more of butter in and it'll be much easier than all the other recipes I've found.Other than that, this morning Belovéd and I gathered the long tree branches that were brought down in the gales to make the 5' star we have instead of a Christmas tree because there's no space for one here, so I'll finish tying that together and decorate it after I've had a bit of a break.Laundry shuffled and eventually brought in later because I suspect it's going to drizzle if not actually rain later.Better is good enough.7

@roundtuit - I am really impressed by your weight loss. I only wish I could do it too. The doctor changed my medication and I shot up 20 lb. - and I needed to loose about 50 instead. Feel bleegh. Any hints on how you did it?7

Running to keep up as usual. We got quite a lot of sorting done at Mum's house; she finished writing her Christmas cards with a bit of encouragement (i.e. I wrote the name and envelope and she signed them); Mr N took photographs of all the pictures in her house and she has looked at about 2/3 of them and consigned most to the charity shop, which makes life easier. 2 she wanted are now in the care home with her. Had a reasonable journey home, just over 3hrs.
today:
- zumba x 2
- went to Mr T
- continuing to sort/write Christmas cards, consolidating mine and Mum's so it won't be quite so expensive
- organised (roughly) our timetable of where we will be staying and who will be cooking what; it will be a strange year.
- rearranged our lounge to its 'winter layout' and planned where to put the tree.
- arranged to meet friend in a care home locally on Wed, after aqua aerobics then lunch with biker friends. That means some flower arranging to do tomorrow as friend's birthday is this week and I usually do an arrangement which will last for birthday and Christmas.
- various bits of admin
- long phone call with DB as care home rang me this morning wanting to get paperwork in place for the 3 nasty questions of hospital/care home at end of life; DNA or not; hospital or not. They had discussed it with Mum so I will abide by what she said, ditto DB. Not a nice conversation although I was glad that the care manager had the discussion with her so I didn't have to. Not that they expect to be needing the arrangements for the foreseeable future; they just like to know in advance.

Morning all. Hope you're doing okay today.
Narco, I feel for you with the decisions you're having to make. After a year and more of family taking in turns to care for MIL at home, one SIL has now moved in with her.Today I intend to fly, do dog walk and go to exercise class. Will try to report back regularly with updates on my Tuesdailies (where is Piggers?), but first changing sofa throws and lots of admin to catch up on.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
Morning all xx
Thank you eltee2 and weenancy 😘
weenancy - I've been counting calories, which means nothing is forbidden. And I'm in it for the long haul, so slow and sustainable. One day at a time. And wanting to be able to dance at my son's wedding was a prime motivator. Nothing mindblowing I'm afraid...just a steady slog.
I'm up, made my bed, dressed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, packed my lunch bag, completed Wordle in four, completed Strands with one hint, completed Connections very quickly (ditto yesterday - Svengali setter must be on holiday 🤣), eaten breakfast and supped a brew.
I'll feed the birdsand put out the recycling before I set off for the paid stuff.
On my way home I'll call at PO to pay my rent and post my Christmas cards. Only three to post, the rest will be hand delivered.
Have a good day.

The bit I've done looks much better so there's a lot to be said for Dot to Dotting. And as a treat I'll be rolling and folding puff pastry.Better is good enough.5

Morning all,
Well, I lost last week, it seems, so have just spent time with a cuppa catching up on a week of busy posts. Thank you for the threads, last week and this week. I will do my best, but it is probably limited to keeping on top of the laundry (but not the drying, eek), keeping the kitchen half way presentable, and feeding us - lots of veggie based meals here too, thanks to pretty decent hauls from the local market by DH, plus the allotment that is still giving.
Fabulous cakes, Iona x
Well done, Round. Add a great deal of motivation and self control to that list of attributes. Although sending your unwanted weight in my direction is a pretty poor show 😉 x
I feel for you, Narc0, difficult times xNatty, I replied to you pm last night, thank you, hon x
It’s a non work day today, and another on Thursday, to make up for working all last week. I am going to see DD in the uni city to have lunch with her, which will be lovely. Must renew my railcard and get my ticket.
I’m having my hair cut later this morning, so will use the trip to big town to give DD’s car a much needed run, put some petrol in it no doubt, and drop into Mr S to get some wrapping paper. Then I have a long list of random admin tasks for this afternoon.
Only 6 more days of employment (another eek, but a far louder one this time), then it’s time for the next phase of life, whatever that is. Flying will definitely be part of it, you never know, I might even get back to keeping up with the thread!5 -
Thank you for the thread.Fiddle and faffed about but most things are done, hoovering, WM, drying, ironing, bins, shopping, you get the picture of what I have been up to.Nothing of much interest is going on here, wet, dark, wind.Door wreath is done and up.!! but the storm blew it down, so now it is hanging around a garden statue, while I decide what to do to mend it.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles
