well Flying this week has been pathetic. Haven’t even changed my bed. No chance this weekend either, busy tomorrow and doing a roast on Sunday. Did get some YS croissants from the coop though, 57p. So that’s a win. DW locked and loadedDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Iona they look great.
Fairly straightforward journey to Dorset last night.
Had a very short dip in the sea this morning as Storm Darragh was picking up and the waves were too big for my liking. Refreshing though!
Went to see Mum, it was Christmas Fayre at the care home. She liked the Christmas jumper I'd got her from the CS and enjoyed seeing us, but seemed quite tired and a bit overwhelmed with all the activities.
Mr N took photos of all the pictures on the walls in Mum’s house, tomorrow I can show her on my laptop to see if there are any she wants in her room - we will make a photo album of any she hasn’t got room for.
Got Christmas tree and decs out, put them up and threw out any really tatty stuff. Plan is to clear out spare bedroom cupboards tomorrow and go through mum's wardrobe.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Good morning my lovelies xx
I'm up, made my bed, brought down the laundry hamper, turned calendars over, taken my meds, completed Wordle in three, only managed line in Connections, needed three hints on Strands, and I'm supping a brew.
I think Mr BG has cancelled the appointment to fit the smart meter today. I received a text saying he was coming as planned; two hours later I received a text saying they didn't have anyone available and the appointment was cancelled. Click to rearrange. Clicked. They'd already rearranged the appointment to Tuesday 14th Jan - which is fine as I'm on Annual Leave that week. So 🤷♀️. Watch this space.

Morning all. Hope you're all ok.
Iona, those cakes look lovely.
Apart from essentials I have done no flying since Tuesday and haven't hoovered since last Sunday. I've done paid stuff and also cake baking for charity but not as impressive as Iona's.
For the second weekend in a row family plans are cancelled as the two older DGD's are unwell. DGD1 has rotavirus so has been having nurse visits twice a day rather than going into hospital. She is picking up a bit now though. We're all fingers crossed that we can do our plans next weekend.
So I now have two days (maybe four) to myself so really no excuses about flying. I will report back with progress. Dog walk first before the storm gets here.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
It's been a rather stormy night here, so I have not had much sleep, but I need to get some tasks done off my weekly list today.
@ionafan those cakes look wonderful. I'd certainly buy them if I was at the Christmas fair, hope the fair goes well. Massive congratulations on your two year anniversary.
My list for today
Tidy up the storm damage from last night
Take the dog for a long walk (not sure how far she will go as still stormy)
Check the diary and make sure everything is in for this month
Make a start on sorting out the diary for next month
Schedule festive food shopping
Do festive shopping and update the list (aiming to get the last of the main presents purchased by the end of this week)
Laundry
Sort Mr T order due for delivery tomorrow
Do 4 hours of exam revision (starting to get very nervous as the first exam is on Monday morning)
Wash up the dishes, dry and put them away
Work out a plan for sorting out the living room, want to do it before Christmas although can't get a new carpet until January.
Pack up ornaments etc in the living room, as going to deep clean and then repaint. Work In Progress
Look at sofas as considering getting a new one but it won't be until after the holidays.
Have some me time and get some rest, after a restless night.
I think that is everything that I need to get done today. Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.

been to work to help put the decs up - didn't do that actually, but did other stuff. Been to butchers for tomorrow's joint.
Going to do some flying shortly, I hopeDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Sort of flying at Mum's house.
- Took everything out of all but one built-in wardrobe in spare room. Expected it just to be Xmas decs and other easy-to-sort stuff, but found all sorts of old photos (e.g. one of my grandma before her marriage so early 1900s) and notes from when Mum trained as a nursery nurse in about 1948! All interesting reading/viewing but very time consuming. Big box now for recycling, smaller box of 'to be decided; probably kept'.
- visited mum. Got her to do another batch of her Christmas cards ("this is boring but I like to receive them"), on the whole we did well though. I've now addressed the remaining cards so all she has to do tomorrow is add her signature.
- Was expecting to do a lot more but Mr N came back from BIL rather sheepishly saying we had an extra person to dinner; I'd already asked him to invite BIL, but seemingly as Mr N left the house, BIL's 17yo stepson J who is lodging with him during term-time asked if he could come. Bearing in mind I'd already been shopping and we have no freezer or much in the dry goods store now we're running mum's house down, to say I was unimpressed would be an understatement. However I cobbled a dinner together and fortunately he is a nice young man - but of course an evening of pleasant chat (and 4 people exclaiming over old photos) really ate into my clearing time. The reason we'd asked BIL round was so we could menu plan and work out where we are eating and staying over Christmas.....the discussion was started but not completed...aaaagh.
- I did give J a job, to sort through all Mum's plastic food boxes so we could throw out any which either had no lid or were lids without a box, so that is a good job done.
So tired I can't think now.
