Garage did not submit MOT pass to DVSA
I have invoice evidence that MOT was carried out by garage and passed and next expiry date quoted in '25.
Went to garage today to query. The manager confirmed the MOT was carried out and passed but can't see the certificate on their system.
They are going to speak to their MOT mechanics tomorrow to see what has went wrong.
If they have not submitted the cert in error, do they simply contact DVSA and explain the situation and DVSA then update their system to show MOT completed?
I know MOT's can't be backdated if being started fresh but surely there is a system in place to update online records at DVSA if garage error . Aargh!!!!

i am not sure how this has happened because MOT centres use MTS MOT testing a computer system and database used to manage MOT test records.
if the internet is down and the tester cant log in then they shouldn't be testing. there are some occasions where they can use contingency testing but this would be strictly controlled3 -

I appreciate mistakes can be made but just not sure how they fix this with DVSA. I am hoping DVSA accept garage error and update system without anymore action needed by me0 -

now read that as you like but if a garage allows you to drive the car away with a dangerous defect and run someday over because the brakes have failed then that garage would probably held liable for allowing you to drive that unroadworthy car away from the garage
they should tell you that you can trailer the car away for repair elsewhere but you cant drive it away1 -
no mot station can prevent the presenter from driving away and they would not be liable as the presenter knew of the failures

Why start a new thread instead of just updating the one that was running?
You could try:Add or remove test records
If there’s an MOT test missing from your vehicle’s MOT history, or a test that does not belong there, email or call DVSA to have it corrected.
You’ll need to give your:
- name
- telephone number
- vehicle number plate
- vehicle make and model
- date of the MOT
- MOT test number (if you know it)
- MOT test centre name and address
DVSA customer service centre
enquiries@dvsa.gov.uk
Telephone: 0300 123 9000
Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6pm
Find out about call chargeWhat have the garage said they are going to do about it if they can't get it fixed with DVSA given the car is not legal to drive and not currently local?
It is a good reminder to people to always check the online MOT status once passed as it should show up that day, or next day at the latest.

Driving away may be illegal, not to say stupid, but I don't make the law.2 -

Garage manager checking with mechanic tomorrow then letting me know their findings. I will know then if they can discuss direct with DVSA. That's why I was posting. To see if anyone knew if garage & dvsa can resolve an issue like this without action from me as its an obvious error by garage.
In an ideal world I would have checked DVLA mot status earlier but had talked face to face with garage staff when mot complete and had invoice stating all passed so never occurred to be I would have to recheck. Hindsight is a wonderful thing0 -
even if the car failed and you had a partial retest you should still get a valid certificate issued after the retest
the new certificates are just a printed A4 page but it has test details on it1 -
What do you actually have?
For nearly 20 years now, the test has been computerised - the tester logs the car onto the DVSA website, walks round the car with a clipboard, then enters the results straight into the website. That logs the test result instantly, and it'd be online at https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ instantly.
The only time they can do anything else is if the computer system is down - either in the garage or nationally. In that case, you should have been given an interim certificate, and it been logged asap.0
