Replacing a dimplex xt24 with …..
Comments

Afaik from posted models here - only Dimplex Quantums and Elnur high end HHR ecombi have single wired mode (*).Rosie1001 said:My very old dimplex xt24 is getting replaced
just want a like for like … no extra writing if I can help it … straight swap , no fan assisted or wifi. ..just a basic heater
needs to heat 15m2 …
Any recommendations please
So second hand or repair might be your options. Have you had a local heating / electrician take a look.
Parts for repairing common models are still available - neighbour just had 1 element and a dial control fixed for she said just over £100.
When I got upgrade quotes - for older quantums - tge new live spurs weren't that much more expensive than moving existing spurs to live 24/7 and now I'd want the options of cheaper lot 20 anyway.
(*) And that comes with the problem of keeping timing matched to actual meters, including gmt / dst hour switching at one or none or both ends.1 -
Update
changed the thermostat, but it still tripping cut out switch
ordered new elements.. hopefully that will be the fix
any other things that could be suggested, electrician is reluctant to repair , I guess he want job of supply and fit a new one0 -

Replacing the overheat cut-out might be a cheaper and better bet.- You can spot a failed element using the Storage Heater Sanity Test

Don’t think it’s got a overnight cut out
the thermostat and cut out is one unit , and that’s just been replaced0 -
I would replace all 4 elements togetherGerry1 said:Rosie1001 said:Update

Why?? You don't know whether even one has failed. Would you replace all the lightbulbs if one blows?Rosie1001 said:

The electrician coming out to check … so if one has blown I’d replace them all while dismantled
hes £75 per hour plus vat … and he really doesn’t want to fix it , he wants to replace it with a quantum0 -

It’s cut out again so I can’t check it0

everything off , 48 flashes on meter
