just checking in and good to know all is calm for the moment with you.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

@savingholmes if you recharge your batteries now, you can do more later. The throngs around the hospice may well reach burn-out at record speed. Put your own oxygen mask on now and take care love Humdinger xx4

Thanks everyone.
I went again Tuesday. I stayed with my dad overnight with a sister. We kept watch and sang his favourite songs. We then handed over to someone else and he died peacefully a few hours later. The funeral will be after my return from holiday.
I came home in the early hours of the morning. I have a cat sitter now and she came the last few days and will come when I am away.
I need to contact the GP and see if I can get a sick note as official bereavement leave isn't very long. I may see if I can get a Chiro appointment too. My foot has been improving slowly...
I've been trying to order holiday money but it hasn't let me so far....
I think I will start packing / planning my holiday clothes etc. Then I can see what's left to do / find / buy / return. I also need to empty my car, do the washing, get a few groceries etc. The mundanities of life can be reassuring and settling at times like this.
I also need to update my money. I have had a refund of my chiro appointments so far and got the nwde payment yesterday.
I also need to visit the vet and resolve the insurance claim.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Oh SH I'm sorry to hear your news, but glad that the end was one that sounds peaceful for you all.
It may be worth holding fire about whether you need additional time - I found that in fact once the initial flurry of helping Mum make immediate arrangements and being there to support her had worn off, not working left me with more time to think and dwell than was helpful. As a result I went back - albeit dipping in and out depending on what else needed doing - relatively soon after and found being occupied to be really helpful. Remember - there are no rules, so see what fits for you rather than feeling bound by what is "expected".🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Sending soothing wishes.
Have you got an opportunity to see your counsellor before your holiday? You seem to get good input from them.
