@jwil I do hope that this isn't a ragingly insensitive question; please ignore if so. My impression is that the clutter isn't yours, but you're i/c of clearing it? And that DH finds it difficult as maybe he doesn't see it or he wants to hold on for whatever reason? Your progress is so impressive; at times you will deffo need to vent! Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx
Amended to say that it looks ad if he may be getting on board, from @Humboldt1 -

Hope there aren’t any more issues with the individual 🤞Humboldt said:Morning @jwil sorry to read about DH's job. I like to think that everything happens for a reason... better things are on the horizon.Humboldt said:jwil said:I had a complete meltdown over the weekend about all the clutter and everything. I think it started off that another week off had gone without me being able to get on with anything I had planned and just spiralled (probably with the help of hormones!) I just feel completely trapped sometimes with endless barriers against what I want to be doing whilst having to deal with the stuff that I have to be doing.
I have barely spoken to DH for the weekend, and on Saturday stormed out for a few hours. I've eased off a bit today and actually spoken to him about it while the kids weren't here. Who knows if it will make a difference!
DH is going back to the 'new' place tomorrow. They phoned and asked him to go back so he's agreed to give it another go. Hopefully it will be better this time. It seems it was an issue with an individual rather than the job overall so hopefully it will be resolved. It was quite nice having him here today so I could get stuck in at work to deal with all the first day back backlog rather than having to stop and do the school run.
DH sold a few items over the weekend so that's mostly been packed and posted. At least some things are leaving the house!
Life isn't always easy and you have coped admirably with so much recently. It's important at times like these that we prioritise our own well-being and needs, so that we can effectively help others. On such days, I tell myself that it's ok to pour a jar of sauce over some pasta, to do only what is necessary and to go for a walk, wallow in a long bath, or whatever calms the frustration and whirling chatter in my head.

Your DH is doing so well with selling items. Sending a hug your way.
Thank youI'm feeling more myself again now thankfully!

The vast majority of the stuff is DH's. He just doesn't see the mess and doesn't want to get rid of stuff. I hate the mess, the space it all takes up, the lack of ability to do anything without having to move or navigate around piles of stuff. He is getting rid of stuff, and I do the ebaying to try and keep the momentum going, but every now and again it slows to a stop and nothing happens. He won't just get rid of stuff either, he needs to try and recoup some perceived value (whether it's worth something or not!) So stuff that has been identified to go might still hang around for ever whilst it's waiting to be sold - same with the kids stuff.
The problem is he comes from a family of hoarders, so it's ingrained and it's a mental health issue as well. It's not as easy as me just barging in and getting rid of stuff, much as I'd like to. I have to take him (and the kids!) with me on this one. It's an awful lot better than it used to be, and every now and again I'll blow up at everyone which helps nudge things along. I just wish I didn't have to!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee5 -
Yesterday DH and I went to see The Salt Path. We both enjoyed it though (as is often the case) the book is much better. They cut out loads, and being familiar with most of the locations, it was a bit bizarre seeing places not in the right order as you would expect them!
I've spent most of this morning in and out of the garden and I've made quite a difference, so I'm pleased with that. DH has gone out on his motorbike so I'm going to relax this afternoon."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
