DH and I went to get the last few bits of food we need this morning. There's a couple of bits we'll have to get on Xmas eve (Milk etc) but we're done now. I got some more veg so need to start prepping that.
I've cancelled our home insurance renewal, as quotes were looking up to £100 cheaper than our quote. I'll do it properly after Christmas as it's not due til mid-Jan.
We've done the insurance, and paid for the car so we can collect it tomorrow. Both of us feeling a bit sick with the big spend again, like with my car. I had to lend DH my PB money until his withdrawal comes through but it should be there in time for me to re-purchase them at the end of the month. It's actually handy that I had that money easily available otherwise we might not have been able to get the car until after Christmas, and even then, depending when the dealership is open. The hire car is going back tomorrow, so whilst we could have managed, it's easier with both cars.
The kids asked to go swimming tomorrow, but I think we'll leave it until after Christmas. I need to wait for the hire car to be collected tomorrow, and haven't decided if I'm going to get up and take DH to work and pick him up so I can have the car, or whether I just let him have the car and we have a lazy day. Lazy day will probably win!
I've updated all the financial spreadsheets and started prepping them for next year. I would like to have a quieter year next year, this one has been a rollercoaster.

DH took my car this morning, I fancy a day at home! It will mostly be a cleaning/organising day. Little miss got up complaining of a headache, then promptly threw up, so that motivates me very much with the cleaning. She seems fine now though so must have just been one of those things.
I've got the oven trays in soaking so the oven will also be done later. I've already done the kitchen floor thanks to little miss, but will do it again after the oven is done. The sofa blankets are all in the wash. I want to sort and clean the fridge and organise all the Christmas food, including the veg, getting some of that prepped and frozen.
I'm waiting for the hire car to be collected, they were meant to be here between 8 and 10 but no sign yet. We'll go and get the new car this evening after DH gets home."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Good job I didn't want to go out today, as still no sign of them picking up the car! DH has spoken to them though and they are due today.
Little miss seems mostly ok, she's eating fine, but says she's a bit achey. Hopefully it won't develop into anything.
Oven is done, fridge is done. Christmas food is organised. First batch of carrot and swede mash made. I've also made lentil soup for my lunch. Sofa blankets are back on, and washing is caught up with. Tomorrow will be bathroom and towels and hoovering through, then that will be enough I think."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
