I've been up since just after 4am today, I'm hoping that I can reset my sleeping over the holidays. I'm off until January now which is lovely, and I don't plan on doing a lot!
DH's car insurance has settled already and so he should receive the payment any day now. The other insurer accepted full liability (as it was!) so it's great that it's been resolved so quickly. They payment is a fair one and more than we were expecting so that's better. Not a drop in the ocean compared to his new car costs, but it will all help. The hire car goes back tomorrow, so thankfully we found a car yesterday for him, and we can pick that up tomorrow. Today we need to sort the insurance and transfer over the money. His old car was collected in the week, and I did have a lump in my throat as we've had that car almost as long as we've been married and longer than the children have been alive!
The boiler was meant to be fixed in the week, but they cancelled on the day. Thankfully they came out yesterday instead, and touch wood the leak seems to be resolved.
Last week was so hectic at work, and with some quite stressful problems on a project I was working on. Hopefully it will all be resolved ok, but I'm not going to worry til the new year. An important meeting at the end of the week and some very positive feedback on some of the other stuff I'm working on so all good there.
I got called into school last week urgently as they had found a note that little miss had left lying around. It detailed loads of struggles she's having socially at school, and how unkind some of the children are being to her. Honestly, it broke my heart 😭 She doesn't tell me any of this stuff, and generally seems happy. But I've had a good chat with her, and the school are going to get on top of it in the new year, and put some additional support back in place for her (her ASD referral came originally from her social struggles). Hopefully we can get on top of it all.
All in all last week was tough, but we're all on holiday now (except DH who will be after Tuesday) so hopefully we can have a restful break."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Oh @jwil theres a lot going on in your world so I hope you can all decompress over the holidays. Glad OH's car insurance is sorted already and you have a replacement chosen. Well done on the good feedback at work in between more stressful aspects.
Heart breaking about little miss and her school experience, so painful when you just want to protect your wee ones. I hope the school will be supportive and put things in place in the NY. Take care of yourselves x3 -

Oh poor little miss, a child should never have to go through this. Children can be very cruel ☹️ I hope the situation can be resolved.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
