NatWest >1 payee with same bank sort code and a/c number issue

My partner now has an EA and an EA ISA with Charter.
She uses the NatWest app and wants to have two payees, one for each product. Charter bank with Barclays so both payees will have the same sort code and account number, Charter then differentiate using the reference field which contains your Charter account number.
Nat West app won't let her have 2 payees with the same sort code and account number. She has messaged them.
Anyone had similar and found a workaround?
The fallback would be to just have the EA as a payee and channel any ISA contributions through that account. But don't see why Nat West have a problem with having more than one payee with the same bank details. I have several payees on Santander with that scenario.

Can't you just change the reference everytime you make a payment?1

HSBC group also have this issue, but the reference can be changed for each payment.

Possibly, but that would introduce jeopardy of effectively being a 'new' payment each time the reference is changed with scope for miskeying. (On Santander references are often 'baked in' but that's not an issue once you've forced your choice of payee name, e.g. Charter ISA and Charter EA, past the CoP validation).Peter999_2 said:Can't you just change the reference everytime you make a payment?0 -
Don't NatWest save previous references?
Starling lists all previous references used so you can choose them0 -
That would be a useful feature! I will ask, thx.penners324 said:Don't NatWest save previous references?

In RBS (and I assume NatWest) app you can paste into the reference field (on Android anyway). So you can keep a note of the reference on the phone and copy/paste each time it needs to change.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. Nationwide also allow multiple payees with the same sort code / account no. combination. Useful for all the Principality BS accounts!mebu60 said:

That introduces a risk you'll get it wrong and money will go walkies. This is where banks' systems to protect against errors can actually cause themPeter999_2 said:Can't you just change the reference everytime you make a payment?I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?3
