Such a rubbish situation to be in. I agree with those who've asked about time off - it sounds like you need it.

Good morning ladies & thank-you for your support and well-wishes! I can happily say that both OH & I made through Friday relatively unscathed and in hindsight my emotions were getting the better of me. I'm sure as you all know, those of us who are lead by our hearts are often the architects of our own suffering!
So OH went to the day-centre at the Hospice, and would you believe it, actually enjoyed himself. It helped that one of our church friends was also there as a patient, her own long term condition being terminal. They both enjoy each other's company and have the same sharp wit. His OT who comes to the house was there as well, to prod him along and when he refused to participate in 'arts & crafts' made the Easter basket for him, filled it with chocolate and sent it home for me! Chocolate is always appreciated! Thankfully the rest of his day was spent matching wits and doing quizzes as well as being checked on by the nursing team. While he refused to eat any of the food they provided labelling it as utter rubbish, he did partake of coffee and biscuits. Lesson learned is to send a pack--up with him as we eat nutritionally balanced food and not 'hospital' fare.My day was full of year end deadlines - a boss who we all know does my head in, and not one but two retirement fetes of two of my dearest friends. The first was a very civilized champagne and cake affair, a sophisticated tea party with speeches & gifts and tears! She & her husband were our witnesses at our wedding in November and she is ending a 42+ year career! Then I went back to my desk, cursed my annoying manager under my breath for being annoying and finished off my work. The evening was spent at the second retirement party, at the pub with a different crowd of folks - lots of boozing, swearing, banter and generally letting off steam. This mate is my age and he was affected by our internal cutbacks, but as he has been in the workforce since the tender age of 16, can claim not one but two decent pensions as of his b-day a few weeks ago! I didn't get home until nearly 11 and have been recovering ever since!

Fantastic to hear that Friday was a 'reasonable' time for your DH, and that your worries were perhaps lessened, slightly….. sending love to you both.
Hospital food……. the 'low' light of my hospital stay in the maternity wing, was one dinner - for which the only veggie option was Cheese and potato pie…… The mess that arrived on my plate was a 'pie' made of mashed potato, with presumably cheese or a cheese-like substance thrown in the mix all served with……… a side serving of…… mashed potato 🙄I kid you not. I did eat it, as I was nursing LG, but lawks, I tell you, neither JaymeeO, nor Jamesy Martini had been anywhere near those hospital kitchens……… 🤣 Thank heavens a scrumptious pack-up will be available to look forward to, now you know.

@Greying_Pilgrim - OMG hun - I hear you on the abundance of potato options! When I was in hospital a few years back and unable to chew, I was presented with potato with cheese, not once, not twice but every single lunch and dinner for weeks - and sugar laden runny fruit yogurt or heaven forbid instant custard for afters. No fresh smoothie made with fruit and veg, no homemade chicken noodle or pured vegetable soup - nothing that even resembled fresh or colourful or not UPF!!! It's no wonder I lost 5 stone in the process! i swear that I Ihave PTSD in regard to hospital food! - was so thankful when I came home and the church meal train brought me real food to eat! In fact 'scottish gran' kept me stocked with good stick to your ribs soups for the next few months!
