Those mortgage overpayments are indeed impressive, as is your planning ahead. You are being kind to your future self by getting a plan ahead of time but I think we are all wishing you both more time than the statistics suggest. Sending a virtual hug that you can use or leave, whichever works for you.
And I'll add my share of 'ouches' to the popped rib situation: I had no idea that was even a 'thing', but it shows it's worth paying attention to things that don't go away. I hope it is soon a thing of the past and decides to stay put in the future.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Sorry about the shoulder / rib / - but - hot peppermint chocolate - what a thing !! (Off to find out about how to make it)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
@Cheery_Daff - yes I can emphatically say it is!
@Greying_Pilgrim - I moved my appointment up as I could not figure out why my back was hurting so much! Now we know!
@beanielou - yes and add about 10 more of those ouchies & we are there!
@Merlin's_Beard - well not quite there but a heating pad does wonders to keep the circulation going!
@KajiKita - well Saturday I spent most of the day on the sofa, applying heat externally and ibuprofen internally which made yesterday bearable enough to do some chores - and got me through a working day today!
@Cherryfudge - virtual hugs are always wanted and needed & gratefully accepted! - I had no idea it was a thing either - it's called rib subluxation and usually happens in the lower ribs. Mine arrived while commuting - I was holding on to the handle with my left hand while gingerly stepping out of the train and some not so kind soul shoved me from behind. My whole self twisted and my head said ouch you just wrenched your shoulder! Of course I just carried on and went to work and in fact was sore most of the week until seeing the Chiro!
@Watty1 - check out Spice Drops - they come in all kinds of varieties - we use 2-3 drops in a cup of instant hot chocolate for a festive kick! I've also got the chai drops in stock which get put into a milky black tea for instant poshness!- one small vial lasts all winter season for two of us & a little goes a long way!
So for your amusement, my visits with the chiro usually go something like this...The Scene (annotated for maximum realism):
Chiro: “What in the world did you do?”
(Translation: Your spine looks like it’s been moonlighting as a corkscrew.)You: “Migraine that lasted a week.”
(Translation: I’ve been quietly dying and blaming my medical condition, per usual.)Chiro: “I thought so.”
(Translation: There’s a traffic jam at C2-C3 and I’m about to be the traffic warden with a vengeance.)Chiro, milliseconds before pain: [casually adjusts occipital joint]
You: “ARRRGH — ouch!”
(Translation: I hate you a little bit right now.)
Chiro: “It’ll feel better in an hour or two.”
(Translation: Trust me, I'm a spine wizard.)
In this case he adjusted my neck only after a similar scene played out with the rib/shoulder!
...and today's fun was getting our Covid shots!...
...OH and I are both baffled by having to wait 20 minutes in a pharmacy full of sick people in order to get a shot that is supposed to prevent us getting sick!

Hope the chiropractor helped. That’s just a tad late for the flu jab. Really hope neither of you get it before then. Haha - indeed he did - I adore my chiro he's been the greatest help both physically and emotionally since my diagnosis in 2022 - the errant rib is back where it should be & it will take a couple of weeks for the muscles and ligaments to heal. If I did not have another medical condition it would only be days to feel better, but my body does not heal quickly so weeks it is!beanielou said:Hope the chiropractor helped. That’s just a tad late for the flu jab. The flu jab is only for OH, I'm not able to have one so it's only the Covid one for me. His shot will be happening that late as we are not sure if he will be with us or not, so no point in putting him through extra medical processes unnecessarily. His shots also have to be timed with his treatments, so round one was absolutely hellish and his team advised we hold off and wait to see how round two went - this round has gone OK so he's able to have the shot this week as he's strong enough to cope with the side effects.
His chances of getting either are fairly low as he's not going anywhere on a daily basis but upstairs & downstairs! I do however commute on public transport (long distance train) and have already refused a seat beside me to someone who was sniffling and hacking on the grounds that I have a depressed immune system. They were not best pleased, but tough as i have no intention of putting myself and by default my husband at risk! Why people think it's alright to be out of their houses when they are infectious is beyond me!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
