@Watty1 - thanks love - will do! - I actually had an argument with MrGPT about the validity of a blanket for a man who is a human furnace - lol - you can argue with him, and he always lets you win4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! OH and I have started having some weird conversations!
I asked him who I should name as my beneficiary on my pension, his first response was - it won't affect me I'll be gone - when he saw my upset face, he then tactfully started naming godchildren & siblings - we are now having a (civil) argument about who was less tactful!
Another one was about all the 'lasts' - he's started watching old movies and reminiscing about all the circumstances around the first, second, third time he watched the movie. It's not as if I've never heard all these stories before and when I rolled my eyes, he was not best pleased. Come on already, the stories were old 10 years ago, they are even older now! - I digress, every time we do something non-routine, we both start wondering if it is the last time we will do that thing together so the conversation was about what things we want to redo together.
I got paid yesterday, so am currently doing our monthly budgeting. OH, who never bothers with the budget started going through all the categories over my shoulder to see if the future savings of removing his categories would add up to his pension so that I'd be 'cost neutral'. The man brought me to tears and does not understand why I'm so cross with him!
I wonder how many more of these strange conversations we are going to have?4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Aw RT, what a weird old time 😕 I do feel for you. I suspect you'll be having a fair few more of those odd conversations.
Are you in touch with any support group, either of you? Remember 'anticipatory grief' is a thing, and even just dealing with a diagnosis and treatment is a big old thing. Might help to have folk to talk to in similar situations, as well as us imaginary folk xx8 -

@Cheery_Daff - that made me chuckle! I'm quite fond of all my Snuffleupaguss's! - but yes, I've spoken to RL chums too - without the MSE stories! The RL circles just would not get those stories! Awww … It becomes very surreal, those conversations that happen when going through something like this with someone. I hope the intentional ‘lasts’ that you get to do together bring some sweetness and joy for you both x

rt - that is tough, what you're going through, managing, juggling and hearing. I do hope you have many RL/virtual shoulders to lean on, and places to vent about all subjects. I hear that OH is taking a 'practical' tone to the situation, and I realise that somewhere in there, there is buried a compliment that you can cope in the future, but this is all 'coming a bit at once' and is relentless for you both. That is emotional overload.
I know it wasn't the intention of your post - but I'm as guilty as any failed human of forgetting that any time could be 'last'. So whilst I always try to remember, today I'll hug DH & LG a little longer, and tell 'em I love 'em - because reminders are always good.

@KajiKita - thank-you for your kind words hunny, very much appreciated - I'm hoping that our 'lasts' don't have an intentional tinge of 'last' while we are doing them, I very much hope that we can get as much enjoyment out of them as we did with our 'firsts'. In the words of John Keats, "The last of your kisses was ever the sweetest" and the last smile the brightest."
@Greying_Pilgrim - what sweet sentiment you picked up from my random ramblings! I'm glad to hear you had a couple of longer cuddles! I think the intention of my post(s) is really to ground myself (and by default my 'imaginary friends') into the thought that all aspects of life are there to be experienced, and this is one of those somewhat taboo subjects that rarely gets discussed as a matter of course.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! So here we are at the latest medical diagnoses centre, which will take simply hours and result in OH being radioactive for the rest of the night!
I wonder if he'll glow or possibly develop Spidey senses. Too bad he doesn't own a Green Lantern t-shirt. He's got many other super hero tees but not that one.🤣🤣🤣4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
