When my DH was struggling to eat we gave him watered down soup in a mug - so he was having a drink instead. I also made lots of full fat real hot choc with cream, it was a battle to just keep his weight in him without ‘nagging’ !Sealed pot challenge 822

I confess it does concern me when I read the NHS tables. The 2 local areas seem to transfer people depending on the treatment needed but are both in the lower 100 of those tables.I have had treatment from both in the last couple of years. One has lived up to the schedule of 3 monthly checks which started promptly, the other has totally outdone itself & had me operated on & back driving before my consultants appointment (plus previous stuff) to see if the op was the right thing was even expected. It certainly makes me wonder how accurate those tables are It also makes me wonder what influence some areas have when there is higher private usage.6

I've found GP services better here than they were in my previous higher-income area (I know someone who turned down a job in the practice there on the basis that they didn't want to spend their life trying to pacify the 'worried well' at the expense of the genuinely unwell), but hospital admin for my mum has been a nightmare.
I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. You sound as if you're dealing with it very pragmatically. Sorting out the practicalities will hopefully give you both the space to make the most of your time.
My mum hated Ensure (I occasionally threaten her with it when she's not eating properly), as did my dad - I used to mix cream/butter/mascarpone into anything I could to make food as energy-dense and enjoyable as possible.6 -
Some good points there, @badmemory. I also think that senior management can make a difference by really focusing on important targets such as the 2-week pathway & ensuring the urgency is cascaded down to all levels of their team. For example, when I was referred for scans for suspected ovarian cancer (which thankfully I did not have), I hadn't actually heard of the 2-week pathway & my scan date was 15 days from referral. During the 2nd week, I received a call from Gynae admin to say they'd had a cancellation & could fit me in a day earlier. Initially, my attitude was that it was only 1 day, but she explained how hard they try to see all referrals within 2 weeks & how important it is, so I thanked her & took the new date. There are definitely examples of excellence. A friend of ours has recently had to have a very radical surgery & says he can't fault how he was treated throughout the whole process (a different NHS Trust to ours). It's the inconsistency that is the frustrating & worrying thing, as the same level of public service should apply wherever one lives in the UK because that's what a national public service is.

The tables are based on a whole raft of measures, so it's quite possible the ones near the bottom actually score well on several things (and also possible that they do well on plenty of things that aren't used to generate the score!)
Also finances is part of it - if an NHS trust is carrying a deficit, it can't be higher than segment 3 (out of 4, I think) in the list, regardless of what it scored for everything else.
So, as with everything, league tables are an indicator but won't reflect everyone's individual experience all the time.
@rtandon27 I can't believe your colleague has organised a lunch you can't get to, that's outrageous!! Have you pointed this out? (I know you shouldn't have to!!) Not like you need any more things to deal with at the minute, I'm so sorry 😕4 -
@Cheery_Daff - yes indeed I have pointed it out to her AND it's the 3rd time she's done it - tbh I'm not her biggest fan & have had to pull her up on more than one occaision on both a personal and professional level - so it does not surprise me as I think she does it out of spite - a nasty young woman who is too big for her boots as two of my lovely collegues have said to me. Both unsolicited comments btw as I've never passed any sort of gossip about her behaviours to anyone!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Urgh, sorry you have to deal with that. I really don't get why people are such *********s, particularly at work, when we're all just there to do a job. We have an ongoing situation with someone (fortunately not too close) who has behaved appallingly - to me in a rather small (but upsetting) way a while ago, but to other people as well now, in a far bigger way. All reported, but no doubt nothing will come of it.
Maybe you could invite some of her guests out elsewhere and leave her eating her lunch at the top of the stairs alone5 -
So sorry you are facing this @rtandon27, only just catching up on threads.Adding to the hugs and the ‘do come here and vent’s
Will work be supportive if you tell them?

@Cheery_Daff - my office unfortunately has a whole lot of egos in it - there are about two handfuls of us who pride ourselves in being down to earth and 'nice' human beings. The rest claw their way to where they want to be and are incredibly self-centred! - at least those are gone after a few years and we get a new batch of crawlers in. Oh well c'est la vie - I have a little rant and then get on with it 🤪
@KajiKita - Thanks for the hugs hunny! - Work already know about what I go through on a more frequent basis than I should, and as one of the senior members of staff, I'm there to teach and educate & set the example, hence the 'pulling up'. I still need to vent in 'private' as bad behaviour & unkind actions still cut!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! So the tought of the day is 'Life is for Living' - yes atm it's tough, but being a moaning myrtle just doesn't do it for me in the bigger picture! So am trying to focus on the routine & the mundane and very thankful that those routines and habits are firmly engrained enough to get through the day/week.
A bit of dark humour last night when OH and I were planning what to wear to to special occasions in November. He was pondering if a suit (he has one) was appropriate for one of the occasions & I moaned that I'd have to shuffle money in order to dry-clean it as I'd not have him buried in a dirty suit! We were iin hysterics as the suit hangs in the back of the wardrobe and the last three times he's worn it have been to funerals. Thank-goodness I was the one who picked it so it's a timeless classic so if he does end up wearing it for the occasion he'll look the part!
I on the other hand have nothing suitable, as my shape has changed dramatically since I last donned any of my fancy outfits! They are classics as well, so I may still wear them at some point & may even have some alterations done. After much grumbling and hours spent wasted searching online, I've ordered two outfits and will choose from them once they have been tried on with dress shoes! I do wonder why formal outfits are either frumpy when in nice colours or decidedly uninspiring when tailored nicely! Not everyone wants to wear black all the time! If one of these two outfits does not suit, I threatened to wear a dressy top with jeans and boots as I know they all fit well!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
