lol - @Cheery_Daff - I had the nice man come to the house back in 2022 - after my first collapse & subsequent diagnosis - I told OH he'd be sorting our POA's - it was not worth my time or effort to do them myself! - The nice man charged us a bit of a fee, but in hindsight very well spend! OH actually is currently quite happy to tell all and sunder that I'm in charge and we have the paperwork should they need it which makes them back off and gives me breathing room during a very stressful time! The power of legally binding paperwork cannot be underestimated!

Another not to plan day yesterday - I'd wanted some rest! - that meant staying at home and getting on with all the household everything!

Instead, OH & nurses tried to hide from me that he was not doing well. I ended up figuring it out and went in to hospice. OH & I had cross words and then spent the afternoon/evening together. Nursing team were most worried in the sweetest of ways that they had gone wrong, and then I had a wee chat with them about the call me 24/7 note on his file. Let's say I was very grumpy so treated myself to a take-away while OH happily ate his institutional dinner. Seems weekend cooking staff are better than the weekday ones!

Today he's been messaging every hour so I guess my cross words hit & he's also feeling a lot better. As I told one of the team - we've been together 20 years - I know how he operates and if he's not nattering on then there is something wrong!

Going to get myself together now and head over for a visit - we have plans for a pickety bits dinner.

I'm sorry he was feeling rough, but had to grin a bit at your insider knowledge getting the better of both your OH and the staff! It could be that they would call you, but their judgement of when that should happen is different from yours. Doesn't do any harm to remind them, though.

Was the takeaway nice? And I hope you can get a bit done at home in between checking messages.

The takeaway was lovely and a generous portion even though not as expected. I ordered a jerked pork dinner expecting bbq with some sauce on the side and got a lovely tasty Caribbean stew that was closer to a brown down than anything else. It was not the jerked pork I ate growing up across the pond! That being said, the mac and cheese was amazing as was the coleslaw even if the portion of that was mean.

Well after two weeks at hospice and three weeks of medical trauma, OH is now home - still recovering, if visably weaker than he was - not quite needing to be waited on hand and foot, but on occaision pushing his luck with me. I've reminded him that I'm back to work now and he needs to try a bit harder to be independant as I am not his nursing team and if he still needs them we can talk to the hospice and have him under their outpatient team. Lot's of grumbling but he is reluctantly doing what he can.

Phew - normalish service has resumed in our household!
