Yes indeed out hospice is really lovely! I'm very glad OH is close to home as it gives him peace of mind as well. I've yet to convince him to ask for the 'cuddle' bed extension so i can just sleep there on Fri/Sat - he thinks it would be far too noisy for me. Coming home to an empty house and empty bed is really heart wrenching! F1tb1t however tells me I currently have 99% sleep efficiency.

Well today is Canada Day! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 My first without OH by my side in 20 years. I'll be going to a private event of just over 50 others to celebrate with good friends who met in Canada - one is from France and the other from Australia. Their lovely chubby little baba won't be there though as under 14's are not permitted. I told OH I did not want to go without him, but he insisted. Poignant, as he has made the effort every year sto ensure we celebrated and made the day about remembering the best of home.

I didn't realise you are both Canadian - I hope you can find some joy in the gathering and bring it back to your DH so he doesn't go without.

The quiet house must be so hard to face, though I know what you mean about the good sleep. Both DH and I sleep better apart and sometimes I'll go to the spare room if he needs a good night ready for work and I have a cold and am liable to snore! Do you have smart controls for anything in the house so you could perhaps put a light or the radio on before you get in?

So in today's NHS adventure, the central pharmacy send OH's IV meds to the ICU unit of the hospital. He's not been there for over a week! - They did the same thing last week, as the hospital had only sent 24 hours of meds over with him when he was transferred. Matron at the hospice is beyond livid as am I.

I even volunteered to go pick them up myself. One of the lovely nursing staff said that she would do the 1.5 hour round trip and got the matron's blessing to spend half her morning on the errand of mercy. - she's back and he's hooked up - 5 hours late. I"m furious just utterly furious at the ineptitude of the pharmacy team.

Oh that's very incompetent and frustrating, how rotten. Thank goodness for the hospice team. Hope you're ok xx

Formal complaint RT, and copy in the hospitals PALS team as well I would suggest. It's worth doing this even if you reserve your rights to make a further - more detailed - complaint later as it may prevent it from occurring again.

@EssexHebridean - indeed my darling - it went off not only to PALS but also to the head of palliative - they now have a taste of the type of communication I do for a living complete with big words and a list of actions for them to come back to me on with answers. Matron at hospice has also been cc'd and apparently she bounced into OH's room this morning to tell OH how pleased she was with what I'd written. As OH put it once he'd read it - I see you've gone off on one - you can be useful at times 😆 🤣 😂

I've also been dealing with a couple looming legal issues for OH - so though I'm on medical leave to obstentively rest, I am still going at full whack metally while my body tries not to collapse! I'm very thankful that past me got our POAs in place - they are making life sooooosoooooo much easier!

ThatThat's good to hear on both counts RT - that your communication is strong and appreciated, and that your POA documents are useful. I sorted mine and persuaded my mum to sort hers, but Mr C hasn't yet done his (and quite possibly never will - I've accepted that I'll probably need to go down the tedious and expensive route for him should the time come).

Do get some rest though xx
