  • I am going to a party. I don't want to go. but I have been ill all over Christmas and not left the house in over a week. My friends have forgotten what I look like.

I have beer, I have vaguely sensible shoes and will walk to the tube station. and be home at a reasonable hour!!

    ugh. want to stay in!!

Hi everyone,a quiet nite in sounds great to me,exactly what I will be doing.
In fact I haven't been out New Year since I was pregnant with my DD 8 years ago.

  • Hi all. We too are staying in this evening, despite offers of nights out. We have never been huge NYE party-ers but definitely can't justify paying to get into pubs that are normally free, queuing for hours to pay huge prices for drinks...and not being able to sit down all night! Phew... just not fun.

We have set a tradition, if we don't go out, that we have nice food at home (buffet snacks, cheeseboard, nachos, mini pavlovas - yum) with a couple of drinks. A quick hello to midnight, then off to bed. Boring but fun and comfortable.

I am amazed the number of people I heave heard saying they don't like NYE out, so why do they all give in to pressure and go, very very silly.

Spud - nothing wrong with that menu, it's the trimmings that make Christmas dinner for me. We never have turkey as family don't like it so myself and OH do 'Christmas' dinner for New Year's Day - this year we have bought turkey legs from Asda (£98p each!!!) and he is doing pigs in blankets etc. Lovely!

Hope you all enjoy your NYE whatever you are doing. Here's to a better 2009 for everyone

  • I feel the same! My OH really wants to go out, ive been invited to a few parties, and DD is staying with nanny. So were gonna spend some family tie playing interactive DVDs(!) then off into town. I will probably get a taxi back fairly soon after midnighht.

would much rather be at home, eating lots of junk food in my PJs.

    Two words: peer pressure.

After all, if you don't go out tonight, don't get in until 6a.m tomorrow, don't get absolutely paraletic, don't get into a fight and don't spend the whole of New Year's Day being sick then there's something wrong with you isn't there?

    Erm........nope.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.
  • We are also invited to two parties (tried to say no babysitter - no problem bring her along). Ok so shes 8 so no problem but i really cant be ar**d.

I to would much rather keep my dressing gown on rather than try to find an outfit tht looks acceptable and put make up on and do hair.

Feet are up and im on laptop - i want for nothing else. I am officially sad.

But i am happy - iykwim.

Hiya all and Cool Triker Chick, yey, happy new year. Just got back. Feel great actually, didn't mix my drinks too much. Had a lot of cava, went to bed at 5.30am and had a good sleep. Coffee and bacon butty for breakfast and Robert's your Mother's brother.:D

I actually had a great time, and we also remembered our friends who passed away this year and had a toast to them at midnight.

Going to jump in the shower now and finally get my jimjams on -bliss- and then get tea ready.

Hope you all had a lovely night and for those who drank hope you don't have a hangover.

is making butter code for something?

It's code for a lot of stuff, most of which were real  moments. Having said that, I now have 2 large lumps of butter in my fridge. May make some bread... :D
Have fun at your folks and Happy New Year.
