Very few people calibrate the TV when they get it and just want something that will work out of the box. They won't be disappointed with most of the mid range TV's from the top manufacturers, especially if they are coming from a budget 5 year old one.
smallzoo2 - Smart to wait for the sales....Hopefully you will be able to dip into the next level for your budget....Don't sweat it too much, it'll just spoil the experience of getting a new TV...👍😉😁
But this isn't what the television manufacturers are doing - out of the box, the whites look whiter than white, the backlight is on full, you'd have motion processing to create "fake" frames of motion and blues can look purple - they're set-up to stand out in a sales setting to attract your gaze and get you to buy them. You have to manually set Filmmaker mode after the sale.0 -

The TV's come with two modes out of the box usually, one for use in a retail environment which is like a super 'Dynamic' mode designed for it to stand out in an over lit large shop with many TV's. The other for the home which dials it down a smidge.
The new Samsung TV's come with two calibration settings done in conjunction with a mobile phone, there is a quick and a pro version. I have tried the quicker version (takes about 20 seconds) and it's not too bad and give another mode 'Movie Calibrated'.
That said I still managed to tweak it somewhat with a little calibrating using a benchmark and calibration disc.
Of course, not everyone is going to go to such lengths and just get the TV to their liking using the basic modes and there is nothing wrong with that. However, I've been in quite a few places where they stick it on 'Dynamic' and think it's wonderful......Hard bite on tongue called for..😉😁Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

My wife was right when she warned me not to ask too many questions 😁 literally there are so many different views on every forum I've visited both for the 55" and 65". You will one group don't buy this make and the other saying they are brilliant 😂
I'm willing to up my budget to £800 ish but even that limits whats available
Shame you can't rent 5 different models for a day and make a choice 😂0 -
I'd have thought you would have it by now. Increasing your budget won't make it any easier...
...There wasn't much wrong with the Hisense you were looking at. I said that the more you look at reviews the more you would get confused.
Now you have completely flummoxed yourself. Everyone will have a different opinion and most will just advise whichever TV they own. To sort your head out, leave looking for a a couple of weeks, then phone or visit Richer sounds and speak to them. They will take into consideration your wants and your budget and advise you accordingly.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
