We mainly watch films, sport etc on netflix, prime etc Dolby isn't important to us, just a good quality screen particularly one that will be as bright as possible in a light room or allow us to watch a film that's set at night and not have to guess whose talking lol... Cheers
You are being misled, if you watch films on Netflix and Prime then Dolby Vision is important, especially if you are going for a tV with the brightness cranked up.

    Granted, not important for sports.

Given you can have both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for the same price as one with only HDR10+ it makes sense to ensure you get one with both.
Thanks.. that's quite interesting actually. The hisense U8K and U8N both have DV and HDR10+ but as the U8K is older is £200 cheaper..I suppose the question is though does that £200 extra make the U8N a much better TV/deal...and as long as the TV has got both and being average users could we spend a lot less !..
According to the specification, the U8K's brightness figure is 1500 nits whilst the U8N is 3000 nits. The U7N up to 1600 nits. So if it's brightness you want, the U8N wins. Not recommending anything, rather just describing the specification.
  • That's the trouble with TV's I guess ..we are going from a 5 year old TV which has been brilliant to choosing a decent TV for our budget and room...and the fact if I buy a U8N at £1200 it will come with a 5 year warranty so last
  • My last two TV's have been Sony models and I find the brand excellent.

So compares to our last TV  and for a much lower budget what would this one be like ?

    TCL PF650K 65"

It's got very good reviews as a 65" for the average user and less than £500 ?

Not experienced it personally, but reviews are generally kind...It seems to be a 'Fire' TV with amazons OS. An alternative for just a little more could be TCL 65C655K | 65 inch QLED 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart TV | Richer Sounds Which has Google TV as the OS....
To be honest you should see a major difference in the picture quality over the Techwood whichever you choose.

Thanks a lot. We would push the budget to maybe £750 if it would make a bit difference
  • I was in Richer Sounds a few months ago and one of the helpful staff told me the best time to shop if you want a bargain is during the New Year sales, which I suppose is obvious, but also around April when new stock arrives and the older models are discounted.

It makes sense to wait of course but our TV is pretty bad so can't...thanks anyway

    Yes, it would.

Look at it this order: OLED, Mini LED, Full Array Local Dimming...the rest. Ignore all the fancy descriptions and look for those things if you are looking for a bright screen,
For £750 you can get a Mini-LED. TCL don't have Freeview Play.
