Nottingham Building Society - new logo and branding

All tied up in Notts. 😀simonsmithsays said:OP update with the reasoning behind the change
What an absolute mess4 -
Adding BS is very apt.WillPS said:Interesting that they've gone back to being Nottingham BS rather than 'The Nottingham'. I also can't see any imagery of Robin Hood, not sure when the last time that was but this was the logo I grew up with:
Presumably they didn't want to drop Beehive until they'd made the parent brand a bit less stuffy? What matters ultimately is the rates, hopefully there'll be something eyecatching when they bring over Beehive. Hopefully they take the opportunity to update their branch shopfronts too, many of which still have wording suggesting they offer Estate Agency services.

You'll be telling us next that Coventry BS will be getting rid of Lady Godiva from their branding lol4

I'm guessing you're from Yorkshire.Albermarle said:Nottingham Building Society - Drops Robin Hood for 'not being inclusive enough'
Although a better reason is that he was most likely not from Nottingham anyway !
Hands off, he's one of our own!
Nobody has explained why he contradicts inclusivity though, but I think I know the reason.2 -

Robbing the rich is clear discrimination, and probably not something you want to be associated with when you want to encourage 'the rich' to deposit money with you. Also must be something in the FCA rules about financial service providers not associating themselves with financial crime?0 -
I expect they will see an upsurge in deposits as the wealthy won't have to lookout for a man on horseback with a bow & arrow.Section62 said:The headline actually says 'financially inclusive' - and I can kind of see their point. As a sidenote, interesting how Nottingham have decided to emphasis they are a Building Society - exactly what Nationwide moved away from in their recent scheme..From a readability point of view, choosing to make some letters inconsistent within a font is a bad idea. Sure it looks kool and funky and whatever marketing has said, but it is horrible to read. Might as well switch over to "ransom paste" for a truly iconic unreadable look. Urgh.2 -
Me too. The elephant in the room.nottsphil said:

It never ceases to amaze me why the likes of Nationwide or Nottingham pay money (WASTE money) to some 'trendy' - code for clueless - PR firm when there is not a cat in hells chance they will get any value from this.
They will not entice one more customer because of this and may just alienate a few locals.
I'm not a Nottingham BS customer but what are the bigwigs thinking? How can they be so dumb to be fooled into thinking this is good/bad or anything but pointless?5 -
I think you (and they) are taking things a fair bit too literally and seriously. Modern Britain for you - everyone is yampy.Section62 said:nottsphil said:
