Congratulations on the job Apple!Sorry I didn’t post yesterday. I felt exhausted yesterday from the week and needed to complete some unavoidable jobs like filling the car with petrol, ordering school photos etc. This means it wasn’t a nsd, so staying on nsd #2. Had a lovely catch up at a friends last night and feel better after a lay in today.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #824

I have been doing that thing where I get everything out of the fridge and either use or 'do something with' whatever needs it. I have made soup from bendy veg, a quiche as I had cream to use up, and a couscous salad. I also cooked the remaining new potatoes, prepped a head of broccoli and shredded and froze half a cabbage, and froze half a chorizo. I think that is everything! I now have a tidy fridge and prepped food for a few days. I made a big batch of pastry so have some left for something else, probably a steak and kidney pie as I have cooked steak and kidney in the freezer.I now need to pick the remaining quinces and crabapples from the garden trees (to make jelly), and cut the remaining lettuce.I have washing blowing on the line as it is sunny and windy outsideI have listed a pair of barely worn walking boots on ebay to take advantage of free listing, and hopefully free up a little space.Nothing spent today, though as usual I haven't been taking sufficient note of spend free daysGrateful for getting things done and good drying weather!4

The Peace of Wild Things
by Wendell Berry
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my childrens lives may be
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water and the great heron feeds
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free8 -
My son's partner is returning to their home country tomorrow after studying for their degree in Europe. We will miss them enormously
I guess the only upside is that our food bills will go down considerably but we will miss them immensely. They are looking to find a University to finish their doctorate in the Spring, either the UK or USA, fingers crossed for UK. They feel like our second child!

f0xh0les, I currently have 3 jobs, each one is very part time! I'm in the middle of applying for a fourth... 🤣Today I am grateful for not needing to go out or do anything, for Pip being able to not go out or do anything either, for lemon meringue pie, for dh putting some items away in the loft thus clearing some space, for my friends.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

Another plodding day but with rather more focus. Just went round clearing up small patches of floor and nearly filled 3 bin bags, a sack of cans and bottles and a bag for life full of paper (one consequence of not having food delivered is no paper bags to hold all the paper. More buckets emptied and small collections of things to go (not yet bagged and the outside rubbish is slightly haphazard atm).
Disappeared down the rabbit hole of checking bungalows and 3/4 bedroom houses at lunchtime - the houses are cheaper and several had the potential for using a downstairs room as a separate bedroom (one even had a granny extension with bedroom, bathroom and min kitchen all tagged on at the side).
At about 6pm I went as far as little Arseda and filled 3 bags for life with my shopping. It was all okay except for the self-serve till which was a struggle. The last couple of times I've been there has been a till open and once they opened one for me but everyone must have been having their break and only one teenage boy was left to troubleshoot (tills not recognising items or making people try again). It was a very slow walk home but as a result of todays work I can push the walker straight into the house rather than having to fold it up.
Grateful for having food choices, making progress and the exasperating suspense novel finally starting to get somewhere (it's been bewildering, an awful lot of gaslighting going on and so many damaged people).10 -

Planned spend day as need to food shop. Had a fairly relaxing day. Visited the allotment as not been up for since dad passed. It was good to get up there. Pulled up several tomato plants and stripped off the green tomatoes. FIL is planning on making tomato chutney 🤢with them. Still lots of plants to get rid of , but at least I’ve made a start. Harvested warty pumpkins, pears, apples, potatoes and cabbage. We are in the process of looking at how to reduce the amount of heavy digging etc we do each year. So we are going to build a series of raised beds. Hopefully these won’t be as tiring to keep up with mentally and physically. Lots to do over winter. Lots of free exercise from the plot, walking miss giddychops and yoga. Did do a bit of house work but not much.
Today’s plan is to go to dads and finish the loft, move onto the numerous sheds.
Right best get back to my relaxing morning
love 🐞
