Just been for a long walk with DD2 and 10 and 6 y o grandchildren. Brought home some apples from their tree and some plantsRain is forecast today but has held off so far.I have cooked up the quinces and crabapples that I picked yesterday, and the juice is now dripping through the jelly bag. I will boil up the pulp again once the dripping has stopped, to get more juice. I will then be able to make the jelly tomorrow. It looks as though it will be a pretty pink colourMinimal cooking needed today as I made lots of food yesterday with fridge clearings. Dinner today will be quiche and couscous salad. We don't often bother doing a traditional Sunday dinner like my Mum always used to do.Still have washing up to do (there is always washing up, even though we have a dishwasher, I seem to have so many things that can't go in it!) and ironing, so better get on and do it.Grateful today for a lovely walk, free apples and grandchildren's chatter6

Sunday 6th October 2024
In the ancient Celtic calendar, All Hallows' Eve (which begins at sunset on October 31st) marks the end of the old year and the new year doesn't begin until dawn on November 3rd. The intervening days (All Saints and All Souls in the Christian calendar) are days outside of Time, days when we can celebrate what happened in the past and discover what is about to happen in the future.
In every culture in history these three 'absent' days are much like the Australian Aboriginal 'Dream Time' - days Out of Time when we can sow the seeds of a new and different world that we envision
(Katherine Neville via @standupcoyote)
By letting go of old items, you are also encouraging your heart and mind of old behaviours and and beliefs that are no longer serving you

How to Bounce Back
Bad times don't last. Things always get better
Other people can help if you let them
Unhelpful thinking makes you even more upset. Don't dwell on the negatives
Nobody is perfect - not you or others
Concentrate on the positives (no matter how small) and laugh when you can
Everyone experiences changes, sadness, hurt, failure, rejection and setbacks sometimes. They are a normal
part of life. Try not to take them personally
Blame fairly. How much of what happened was because of you, others, bad luck or circumstances
Accept the things you can't change (but try to change what you can first)
Catastrophizing exaggerates. Don't believe the worst possible outcome
Keep things in perspective. It is one part of your life and doesn't have to affect everything else7 -
Today I am grateful for a good cup of coffee first thing, for dyeing my hair, for Pip enjoying an afternoon at a friend's house, for a quick chat with a neighbour, for 8 more sleeps until I fly to Málaga (yes, Shrewbie, I'll wave to you🤣).

I'm on NSD#3
Been a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions here. Took DS1 to the airport Tues, he arrived ok Wed, but in the evening he was in a right state, having a severe panic attack, worst I've ever seen him. Needless to say, he chose to come back home again, rather than struggle on. We think he's been depressed for a while, plus supporting his GF (when they were only friends) through abuse, when her parents didn't believe her. I did get a little upset at work during lunchtime on Thurs, & the headteacher let me leave an hour early on Friday to collect him from the airport. It was so good to see him & he's so glad to be home & have made the right decision to return early.
Took mum shopping yesterday morning. Did look in some CSs too. Bought a couple of branded things to re-sell on eBay, because of the free selling. Felt slightly run down in the afternoon, do didn't do a huge amount, except the ironing. Watched G0ggleb0x with DS1 & had a good laugh. Finished knitting the neckband of my cardigan.
Today I altered 2 dresses, then carted firewood into the smaller greenhouse, to dry out ready for cutting. Broke up 2 pallets with a lump hammer too 💪 Went to the cinema to see The Outrun, it is set locally. The mum of the main character helped at our toddler group when we first started going. She always had a smile on her face, despite all that she was dealing with at home (which I never knew anything about until now).
Grateful for DS1 being home & feeling more positive, appreciating the little things, reading in the bath & pampering, & chatting with people & giving compliments yesterday to make people smile (made me feel good too!)Use it up, wear it out

First day back from my holiday today, had to catch up with work and house stuff, glad it's the evening. I wanted to do a bit of a plan for the month on here but I will have to do it another day, as I do not have the energy.
Holiday with mum and aunt went well, mum is doing really well and I was glad to see her recovering well like that. She also had her birthday while we were away, which was really nice, as we rarely celebrated her birthday together since I moved abroad more than 12 years ago. The evening of her birthday, though, my aunt developed a bit of a temperature and I gave her a covid test, and unfortunately she tested positive. She is on the mend now, but at the time we all ended being in a state of panic, as, even if in good health, she herself is almost 80, my mum just a couple of years younger is still very fragile and a bit depleted still of her defense system. Also, we all think, and her doctor also confirmed our suspicion, that all her troubles last year started as a consequence of when she caught covid in November, which basically opened the doors to the bacterial infection. Luckily now I can say that it seems both my mum and myself are ok, despite being very close contact with my aunt until Thursday (and we still travelled back with the car together on Friday, all wearing masks, but you never know). My mum and I tested negative on Thursday and I again negative on Saturday before flying back here, and neither of us have had any symptoms at all until now.
Now that I can relax about that, I can focus again on the house, quite a bit of work still need to be done (all by OH and myself) to the bedroom walls, before the new bed and mattress are delivered on the 21st.
Only thing I planned for October are the NSD, I am aiming at 18, managed to do 5 so far, however it is also my birthday at the end of the month and I have planned a weekend away in Ireland to see my friend who lives there, so we will see.
Today I am grateful to have been able to do a few days holiday, that my mum (but also me) did not get ill and that my aunt is on the mend.Debt free journey started 30/08/2023:

Did yoga first thing, which I've not done for weeks! Heard the workers bus beep their horn for DS3, but he'd stayed at his GF's last night, so had to thrust my feet into some wellies, grab a coat, & run out across the main road in my PJ's!! Nothing like a minibus half full of builders looking at you like you've been dragged through a hedge 🤣
A full on day at work, but managed to stay patient & not think bad thoughts about my co worker.
Spent the evening sewing. I've sold one of the dresses I was flipping on Eboy, got watchers on the other 2.
Grateful for DS1 still feeling positive, looking after myself by doing yoga & a few exercises this morning, having all my boys back home againUse it up, wear it out
