Thanks SS, well I did all I set out to do today and a little more, I have more to do over the next few days, like get around the site and get my shopping list sorted, I have got the princely sum of £20 a week for the 3 of us, but thats fine, I'll do it somehow.
I was wondering, now I have sorted out the mortgage, whats the worse anyone can do to me?0 -

Put you over their knee and spank you.
Sorry was day dreaming again!
You might get harrassing phone calls from DCA's etc. Just tell them you only wish to correspond with them in writing if it gets too much. There is some jargon on here somewhere about the acts they have to follow regarding harrasment etc. We can cross that bridge though if it happens.
You will probably get defaulted on your credit file which will remain on your credit file for 6 years but I can't think of much else.
I would urge you to try and find the money for your water bill though. Get into another debt just to pay a different one off isn't the way to go. If it means the DCA's get £10 a month less and the water bill gets paid then so be it.0 -
Thanks, the guy at the mortgage place also advised me to pay water and that's why he didn't take all of the £90 left over only £50. He said although they wouldn't cut me off they would reduce my supply
Had to change my landline number ages ago - hence a BT contract still running for another 3 months - 9 calls a day starting t 7 am ending 11pm from one of them, I was deleted - all for £800 debt
Soory I am really tied and cant think - whats DCA please?
So these folks can take me to court for CCJs but as long as I pay my pound they wont send bailiffs or anything?0 -
DCA = Debt Collection Agency
As for CCJ's. I can't promise they won't. But I'd be surprised if they do. You are showing a willingness to pay the debt back and as long as you make regular payments I see no reason why they would go to the courts.
They normally only take this route if someone isn't paying.0 -
As long as you keep paying your creditors you won't get ballifs at your door.
In the worst case scenario you would know it's happening anyway. They can't turn up without a court order and you would know this was happening.
Sometimes DCA's send representatives (they like to call themselves debt collectors) to your house to try and get you to pay more. They have absolutely NO power at all. They do it to try and scare you into paying more. If they knock, tell 'em to go play with the traffic and if they don't leave you alone you'll call the police and get them done for harrasment. Again you'll know they are coming. They normally post something to you telling you when they are coming. But as you're paying regularly again I doubt they will come out.0 -
Here is my new budget sheet
Income
£1201
Outgoings
Mortgage 558
council tax 85
gas 50
elec 55
water 34
tv 13
house life car ins - 97
orange 40
Fuel 100
food 90
sky 21
bt 30
debts 11
payg 10
£1194
A bit better isnt it, am going to work out how much the total debt with orange would be if I just didnt pay, mind you I could leave that until I see just how hard it is to live on £20 food.
Oh I forgot to say, the mortgage man picked up straight away that I would struggle to pay January's payment due on the 4th so he said he would ask the powers that be not to charge me alate payemtn so I will be able to pay them all of januray payment (plus £50 arrears) by 15th Jan, then there will be enough for the proper full payment on the 4th Feb, that was good of them wasnt it?He even asked if I had food in bless him0 -
See what happens when you start taking back control.
What are the arrears on the gas and electric and how much extra are you paying a month towards them?
Can you break down the insurances? When are they due for renewal and when was the last time you shopped around?
Whats the score with BT? Are you in arrears with them? If not look at reducing this. Check out the phones board again for cost lowering tips.
What Sky package are you on and are you tied into a contract?
Also are you buying your petrol from the cheapest pumps? Check out http://www.petrolprices.com/ for the cheapest petrol in your area. It's free to sign up.
And don't forget to sign up to Quidco! There are daily clicks which only earn you 30p odd but over a year it adds up. The same for topcashback.0 -

Arrears are about £200 between them (havent got a current bill to hand) and they are taking £20 a month each - so will be done with that in MayCan you break down the insurances?
