Hi Need To Sort It:D
Have just read your thread - it's the sort of thread that makes this site as great as it is- someone very down, feeling that there's no way out, but then (with a bit of help from the DFWs) begins to turn things around, take control & feel so much more positive!!! Well done to you for all your achievements over the last couple of days:T :T
By the way.....I'm a CPN (well will return to being one on the 7th Jan after 14 months maternity leave;) ) and have worked with many people with Bi Polar Disorder. Have you mentionned your excessive spending, taking out unnecessary mobile contracts etc to your psychiatric team? The reason I say this is because I know that the Psychiatrist I work with has intervened in these type of problems...if someone did them when in their 'manic' state. I know he managed to get one man out of a finance contract for a brand new car (bought when this gentleman was quite unwell!!!) Obviously, this is not something that they'll do everyday..but it sounds like you've got quite a team behind you who will be aware of your mental state at the time the contracts were taken out....it might be worth asking if they can help? Even if they just can get Orange to cancel the contracts with no further charges then that would help!
Best of luck & I hope your health remains stable in 2008!!! I shall be following your journey!!!!:A20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

I bought frozen mince beef so I can only cook a bit at a time instead of cooking a lump just cos its there.
frozen chicken breasts/thighs/drumsticks are also good if you like that sort of thing. turkey is generally cheaper still. go shopping near closing time and pick up yellow stickered bargains to fill the freezer
I bought a joint of ham £4 to boil myself, that will do a ham dinner, ham baguettes for tea the next night (44p for 2 x part cooked ones) and will do sandwiches for my 3 days at college. For me to do that from the deli (or tidy packet ham) would cost me at least £8
same is also true for chicken, beef and pork. better still, buy a slightly larger joint than average for your sunday roast, and use the leftovers
I throw a lot of bread out (well I give it to the birds), so I bought a small loaf and some of those part baked bread thingies, so use as and when.
if you have the freezer space, buy whole loaves, but break each loaf into 2/3/4, wrap each section in cling film/freezer bag, and then take out a section as and when required. you still get 'fresh' bread, but it is cheaper than buying smaller loaves.
Biscuits, there were loads half price but I have told the kids that the ones I have got will not be replaced until next week. From now on they will have a main meal in school, something when they get in followed by jelly + ice cream, an apple, tin of peaches whatever, so they'd best eat it all cos snacks are going to be at a minimum.
pound shops or places like farmfoods are a good place to buy treats for the kids because the money goes further. switch to supermarket own brands - the only difference is the less fancy wrappers.if they will only eat the posh stuff, then only buy whatever is on offer that week. and once its gone, thats it til the next time you go shopping
I bought value spaghetti and beans etc gotta be worth a go at that price eh?
a lot of value things are as good, if not nicer. watch out because sometimes there is only pennies difference between own brand and value, so value is not always as cheap as it seems. try a few things a week. some things you will like, others you wont. it's all about finding a happy medium. if your kids turn their noses up, decant the value stuff into the posh containers. half the time they dont even notice!
just wanted to add a good luck message. you've made a brilliant start and i hope you stick around the boards. wishing you all the very best for 2008 :beer:know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Awe ta brummie babe
Hells delight you have just sparked something in my dim and distant memory, I took out a mahoosive loan for a loft conversion and ended up buying a ruddy car and caravan when I was off it once. Gosh this is all so muddy in my mind, the car and caravan were given to my ex in the divorce so he wouldn't touch the house.
Now, the loan company in question did not pursue their monthly payment after I disputed paying their insurance, then I did a DMP with the other creditors and literally forgot about the massive loan cos they weren't pursuing me - anyway sometime after that I dont even recall how now, my then psychiatrist wrote a letter saying I was nuts and lacked judgement, I wonder where that has gone and when it was written, I know I have got it cos the psyhciatrist rang me before she wrote it then I had a copy.
The mahoosive loan company then got it touch sometime later, dont even know when, my DLA had come through so I offered to pay them £46 a month and they took it, off it £22000 debt.
My memory used to be such an asset but its gone now, short term and long term memory is awful, due to meds I expect in part but things being so awful too I imagine. Its very frustrating to be thinking of something and this cloudy thought comes back you .
Does having a piece of paper off a doctor saying I am nuts count for anything really? I mean I did have the money, I ruddy well spent it, I cant deny all that can I? So its only right I should pay it back0 -

I understand what you mean...but if you were unwell at the actual time you signed up for the contracts etc..then your usual judgement will probably have been affected - if you feel you would have taken out the contracts anyway, regardless of being manic, then that's different & of course you should have to deal with them. However, if it's NOT what you would normally have done, and you can atttrbute it to your mental state at that time, then it may be worth a go!!
Whichever way, I really admire your attitude......you're taking responsibilty for your financial issues & dealing with them!!!:T :T Keep posting x20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

Hiya BB, good morning.
No, I would not have taken it if I had been well, never, I had this great idea that I would convert the loft (don't even need one) and went off and got a top of the range second hand car and a ruddy caravan in the back of beyond in West Wales, the low that followed kept me house bound for months and didn't even go anywhere!!!
My misson this afternoon is to find the actual credit agreements and any letters from psychiatric services, then see if there is anything I can do, I will ring CCCS if I find it all in time.
Thank you !!0 -
Just catching up - you're doing fantastic!!
Well done onthe shopping - as time goes on you'll start to try to beat the price of your weekly shop to get it as low as possibly - it will end up being a little personal challenge!
Can't remember if I recommended the Supermarket Challenge on the Old Style Board, but definitely worth joining in each month.
I blittz stale bread into breadcrumbs and stick it in the freezer in batches. I usually use it to make treacle tart or to coat chicken breasts.
not sure if it is the same in all Tescos but mine does the first round of reductions around 5.00pm and then double reduces around 9pm."Stay Wonky":D
