So my last bill for October is to be taken on 10 November.. will it be taken? Should I cancel beforehand?

Or just let it happen and forget about them? (I've left already).
Same.  My last bill arrived yesterday with the DD notification today for 10th November.  I'm leaving my DD active, if you cancel it then you still owe the money, and that could be complex depending on the state of Tomato's systems.  Seen reports of administrators or collection agencies chasing people of failed providers a year or more later.

I'm hoping it gets taken and processed - my billing has always been fine with Tomato so I hope that won't change.  I'll be keeping a copy of all my Tomato bills as well as the final one and a copy of the DD when paid.

Ok will leave it as it is, £20 in my case, so not a biggie either way, I'll pay it and close the chapter.

Time for predictions, I think by 15th November SOLR people will be with Octopus 😅

I've got mine for the 10th as well, I switched over to Home Energy on the 31st October.
Says it's part estimated by 0.42%
My watts shows estimated usage for the final 3 hours on the 30th.
Guessing I just let the payment take place and sometime down the line the estimated time will be corrected.

If it's the same folk are in charge then 'Turnip' would be a more appropriate name..

Leave DDs in place for the time being, but obviously do keep a close eye on money being taken that way. If you notice any discrepancies, then the DD Guarantee can be invoked.

  • I never switched so was with TE when they went bust.
I haven't had my October bill yet, it normally doesn't come until about the 20th of the month with the DD normally going out around 27th.
Will I still get the TE prices up until the time they went bust - i.e yesterday? Or could I be on the hook for everything since the end of September (what I have paid TE up to) at SVR prices?

If your billing has been working fine so far then you should still get the TE pricing for what will be your final bill.
I would strongly recommend taking photos of the meter reading(s) just so you can prove it if necessary.

I submitted a switch away last week to home energy and was given today the 6th for the switch to complete, presumably that would not go ahead now?

    According to the MSE article:

'If you've already started a switch to another provider, your switch will continue. You don't need to do anything. If you have outstanding credit it will be paid to you by the supplier Ofgem appoints to take over Tomato Energy.'
