Tomato Energy (Electric Only Supplier) - Too Good To Be True ?

What proportion of Octopus' turnover is their payroll? There's a lot of noise about the change, but seriously it's only 1.2%.TroubledTarts said:I think you will find profits will be wiped out by National Insurance contributions for many companies this year1 -
Thanks @masonicmasonic said:...It looks like your property had a visit from a meter reader on 25th Jan, and this reading is out of kilter with your others. Your closing read seems to be estimated based on this plus 2 days usage at your EAC I'd guess. It may just be coincidence that it is the same as your SD+11. Wouldn't be the first time a meter reader made a mistake. I had one a couple of years ago who got mine wrong by transposing two digits, then came back a couple of weeks later for another go which they got right. Though it is hard to see what they did in your case - perhaps they read the meter for the wrong flat?
Is there a delay in the DCC MRs being added to a bill?
That DCC read on 25 Jan didn't appear on the previous two (now undone) bills (first for 21-25 Jan, second for 26 Jan-5 Feb, & emailed to me on 6 Feb)
Is there usually such a delay in adding them to bills?

There will be a delay in the reading finding its way to the supplier, looking back through my bills I had a DC read on 30th November 2023 that did not appear on my bill received on 8th December (this was reversed and reissued months later with that reading for an unrelated reason, which is the only way I learned of it), whereas a DC read taken on 8th April 2024 did appear on my bill received on 22nd April.JKS$( said:

1.2% rise plus a drop in the threshold from £9100 to £5000.Qyburn said:

About £1000-£1500 per employee. With 13000 employees £13 million- £20 million roughly
We have factored £1200 per employee and that cost has to be passed on.
I wouldn't be surprised if energy companies are already onto Ofgem to increase the costs they can take out of the SC.
That combined with the volatile energy market I suspect it might be a close run year for profitability.1 -
I given up on TE.They royally messed up.My switch was on 3rd March and that went MyWatts said MARI as my supplier but national db said octoplus,They said switch failed and no time frame on fix.No fixes or updates so called in again on Wednesday and they said "oh no your all good we are your supplier but data collection is not working we will need to raise with tech team"I then contacted Octoplus yesterday and they digged into national db and said no they are still the supplier and its not switched. I am not prepared to wait while TE keep saying its fixed or we dont have timeframe for fix.Hillarious thing is mywatts shows MARI on a lot of people on FB group who had failed switches. So guess I am going to loose out on the savings I signed up for by moving and stayin on Octoplus.Fuse energy is cheaper by 10 a month fixed rate but never heard of them and they have 50 quid exit fee.1

MARI is the code for Marigold Energy Supply Limited which along with Logicor Energy Limited is a name previously used by Tomato.nekr0mantik said:My switch was on 3rd March and that went MyWatts said MARI as my supplier but national db said octoplusHilarious thing is mywatts shows MARI on a lot of people on FB group who had failed switches.0 -

You can probably look up your supplier yourself via your distributor's website. Using this, you can claim your £40 compensation for not being switched within the allowed timeframe, and probably another £40 for the first £40 not being credited within 10 working days. That should go a fair way to covering the extra costs at Octopus for a while. They might yet figure out what is causing the issues for switching this group of customers. They really need to do so before they open themselves up to new customers again, or they'll be shelling out a lot of standard of performance compensation.nekr0mantik said:Gerry1 said:
