It's that time of year. I've got 20 years of investing ahead of me with a £20k ISA S&S allowance hole which needs filling. Torn between "S&P 500 UCITS ETF accumulation" and "VLS 100% accumulation".... Let's just say that Vanguard is the only company you can use, which one?

    Awaiting positivity and good vibes!
    VLS 100%.

I know you really really want to get to know me and get so much more sensible and nuanced details but I'm quite scared now that you'll simply use it against me to give me even more reasons not to do other things. I now realise that a sensible and nuanced binary choice including one of which is used in here all the time is a problem for you, so I won't ask it again.

Having said that, why wouldn't I invest in Vanguard's S&P 500 UCITS ETF accumulation? Please be sensible and please be nuanced!

Remember. I don't want to do any thinking whatsoever...
Your approach seems strange to me. You are asking for help while being rude to those you’ve asked.

"What first attracted you to the multi-millionaire Paul Daniels?"
It wasn't his money, he didn't have much when they met.

I have a question, should I shred my money, or burn it?

Binary question, should be an easy one to answer, right...?

My personal choice would be to save or invest it.

However, if I was to choose one of your options it would be to burn it.

Thank you to MX5huggy and everyone who bothered to just read the question, stick to the point, and not get bogged down with queries about my mother-in-law's wallpaper or some abstract dream state regarding if a tree falls in the woods when there's nobody around etc.

I invested 50% in VHVG and 50% in VLS100. Those that stuck to the point gave me the insight I needed.

I might be throwing darts at a board, but at least I took the blindfold off, turned some lights on and made sure my flights weren't laden with spit.

It seems not even you were able to stick to the binary choice, as that wasn't one of the options.

I know that now. It was only later he mentioned being an engineer in another thread and everything fell into place. ;)
