Debit Card Transaction

I needed some debit card purchases for my TSB £5 reward. I purchased separately 2 carrots and an onion using the TSB debit card 3 separate times conservatively.
I was stopped by security whilst leaving the supermarket and questioned about my purchases.
Apparently stipulating a carrot is a common ruse for taking a more expensive item in the self scanners, whereas all I was after were ingredients for a stew.
The store staff remained puzzled and obviously suspicious of the logistics of my use of the card.
Just saying.

Yes, your behaviour would have been seen as outside of normal behaviour. As long as they were polite, then they were doing their jobs.
What is your question?4 -
I don't see a question, I just see a friendly warning to others doing a similar thing. I bought £1 Amazon gift card top ups. And made £1 payments off my credit cards when I needed multiple purchases. But of a faff but no-one questioned it.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

Apparently, their algorithm decided that was not my normal spending pattern, despite having not created a pattern at that point
Obviously not seen that advert where the guy keeps tapping his phone for round-ups

I did them with biscuits for the office, own brand custard creams, bourbons etc about 30-40p and a treat for the people in store. I have done it with the odd banana too, just walk out with 5 receipts at a quiet time
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If you happen to get energy from Octopus, you can top up your account with £1, and just do it numerous times.0

I think you can pay lots of utilities, gas, electricity, and water with multiple £1 debit card payments.Don't do it too many times though or they may object. If you really upset them then they may close your account?? Think on.0

An NS&I Direct Saver account can be topped up by a quid a time, I've done 10 in a session, no repercussions. Probably wouldn't do it if I had significant cash with them just in case.0

Also, see below for a good thread that summaries a lot of other good ways to artifically generate DDs and debit card spend.
