Mser's considering trade ins of Series S 1tb + ps5 Digital consoles.
via cex uk link webuy.com

Ps5

£350.00

Series S

£126.00

Intend purchasing HP 25l using PayPal Credit,

£41.67/mo. for 36 months at 0% interest*

to be used for similar games call of duty, Baldurs Gate , maybe Elders Ring etc.

+ Any purchased Monitor can be used for wfh laptop.

I wonder i71400f - which doesn't have igpu(if I blow 4070 gpu) though how does rtx12gb compare to my current consoles.

I expect to loose 4k ps 5 games 120hz from both consoles.

Apart from those and loss of Dolby 5.1/Atmos which both consoles excel at...

How does nvidia rtx 12gb Super compare graphically I suspect 1080p as I'll prob not manage 1440p sized monitor.

And are those trade ins reasonable I find them fine for fast trade in eBay seems very quiet these days,

thanks

You would get slightly better performance on that PC, but at 1080p it would not be worth it. You would lose console exclusives, however PC games are generally cheaper, especially six months after release. It really depends if you want the ease and consistency of console gaming or want to move to PC, play more, do more, gain modding etc.

Thanks I thought console exclusives are released via pc via gamapass etc eventually.
1080p only as 1440p is from 27' above" I was hoping to purchase maybe 25" though suppose I'll need new desk could re consider 27' 1440p
I always intended to re visit pc and after recent console years, now is a good time.

Found 2560 x 1440 (QHD) HP 27' screen from 220 which is decent enough hopefully.

I assume you mean an I7-14700F?

I've got an I7-14700K.  Definitely worth the extra over the KF, I wouldn't buy an F to save a few pounds, the IGPU is massively useful for fault finding and access to it's QSV hardware encoders. (no AV1 encoder unfortunately, just decoder)

    HOWEVER

Advice from everywhere except retailers is not to buy 14th or 13th gen intel.

The CPUs are failing in significant numbers.

There are dozens of theories why, Intel won't say anything concrete.

It may just be because they operate outside of Intel recommendations in gaming motherboards- Either Icore or P1& P2 are too high for too long.
It may be confined to the 125W chips- or it could be that they degrade faster than the 65W ones...
It may be a fault with the internal bus linking the E cores and it doesn't show with the low numbered chips because most of the E cores are disabled.
It may be some sort of oxidation of the silicon over time.

Everybody and his dog has a different theory, which is definitely the correct one.

Bottom line is to avoid Intel and go for Ryzen.

(If you are stuck with Intel because you bought it already, Intel were supposed to be pushing out new code for the bios to "solve" (= put off until out of warranty) the problem this month. MSI released a beta bios with new microcode yesterday for mine)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Intel® Core™ i7 14700KF -I appreciate benefit of igpu which is why I had added comment (if I blew 4070)
Though Non i-gpu version keeps costs at 1.5k levels than 2k levels.
BSOD -though 15th gen I think Lunar lake not far away, there is some kind of Aug patch due for 13th/14th gens.
I'm not in any hurry though and cpu increase is bump up in costs.
I'de like to choose TI version of 4070- though not going to 2k as too expensive.
Only noticed your MSI comment, hope it helps if you get chance to try via intel.
I've only ever used AMD once many years ago, not really intending to return to them, I'll risk 13th/14th gen.
Always new versions on horizon -rdna5!

    thanks

    Mser's Savings?
    Maybe I could choose 45L Intel® Core™ i9 14900K 32ddr5 rather than 16gb|+4080 Super 16gb.
2.49k@69p/m -Guess I could call it
    achievable.

The price difference between a 14700K &14700KF is about £20. If HP want £500 just for changing the 14700KF for a 14700K they are ripping you off!

Your money, but I wouldn't buy Intel at the moment.

The 15th gen won't be an upgrade path from 14th as it needs a different motherboard.

I'm stuck with mine, I bought it before the news really broke about the failures.

The RTX4060 Ventus is a solid card for 1080p gaming, I'm getting one when I get paid this month- mainly for the hardware AV1 NVENC encoder though, I don't game.

You could build a good 32GB i7-14700K RTX4060 2TB SSD Win 11 system yourself for about £1500, depending on the case you wanted.

Self build not considered after a few reads, I', not sure if that hp k/f comparison is spec' cpu only as 32gb ddr5 and 4080 gpu would be bump up from 40470?
I've seen 4060's via you tube though think I'll attempt 1440p.
p.s. I haven't checked cpu costs, only wanting to take advantage of 0% pp credit.
Then I'll be left with decision to last 3 years.

A gen 13 or 14 Intel chip "might" not last that long -- its a definite gamble with those

    As suggested - go AMD
