Can't believe people will pay that price on Amazon for the eraser type things when you can get them for £1

I forgot about the Furniture Clinic, they are good if you have to look into getting it repaired, they did my suite. Check your house insurance, see if you are covered for accidental damage etc.
One day I might be more organised...........

This reminds me of when my own children were small. A 'friend' popped round during the school holidays with her own two children and also a 'freind' of hers with her child too. I was so busy making cups of coffee and serving cakes, i hadnt noticed that the lego i had spent a fortune on for my own 3 children was being dragged out of the lego containers and emptied down the drain. I could have cried!

I was so upset by the devastation they all caused in the bedroom and i couldnt begin to count the cost of the damage.

My husband rang the place where we got the dining table & chairs from this morning and the chairs do come in pairs. However, we are really really lucky as one pair of chairs was returned to them as one chair was damaged and they have agreed to sell the undamaged one to us for £35.00.

The chair with pen on, we will leave in my girls room as a spare. We will try our hardest not to invite the family for a very long time and if they do come back again, every pen in the house will be hidden!

Thanks to everyone for all your help. It's nice to know people care.
  • thank god for that - so sorry to hear about that - my friend's son draw with a felt pen on my Victorian chest that I inherited... I was so upset, I made her claim it on her insurance and she totally understood when I told her, the insurance paid to have it restored...

All furniture at the moment we have is second hand for the simple reason with 4 kids under the age of 9 we know it's going to get ruined. As the kids get older our furinture will get newer......

    Aw, kipper :(

What a horrible thing to happen. I just don't get anyone who lets their kids run around and do what they want - especially when they aren't allowed to do so in their home. If me or my sister had misbehaved (never mind defacing their property!) in someone else's home we would have been disciplined (sounds worse than I mean it, but I can't think of a better word).

What I wanted to say was that if you do have to try nail varnish remover, make sure you get a non-acetone one. The acetone is what is used to remove nail enhancements and will melt plastics and varnishes, etc.

I hope you get it sorted :grouphug:

An old remedy for removing ink from wood is a mixture of salt and lemon juice rubbed in then wiped off with a damp cloth.
I dont know if this would work on modern furniture as this is usually made with pine rather that walnut or oak.
  • If all else fails, it's likely to be much cheaper to get it professionally cleaned than it will be to buy a new chair. I hope you get it sorted out soon.

FWIW, we had 'friends' round when I was little once and when they left, we realised that the children had stolen some of our toys.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
