Yes, mine was paid within 24 hoursMoneyMan01 said:Has anyone had their interest paid yet, after requesting closure?I'm debating whether the hassle is worth it. How much do you even gain by closing it early? Or are you closing it out of principle of them having around £20 worth of your money for 20ish days?0 -
Sent a written request and the Rs that became an everyday saver has been closed and the interests paid in my nominated account very quickly. Still wondering why such an anachronistic process, but the interest has been obviously paid in the endfriolento said:

MoneyMan01 - There is not much point in keeping the Virgin Everyday Saver @1.74%. Closing it is good housework, something you would do anyway, so why not do it now and gain a little extra interest (about 15p). Your figures are incorrect. July`s interest will be about £26 odd and as friolento said it is paid out quickly. Also it will be the end of September before you get your interest - 57 days from now, which is slightly more than 20ish days.

If it wasn’t for the anachronistic process, what would we have complained about this week? 😉😇francoghezzi said:

Submitted my form online last Friday, hoping they close today or tomorrow so I can move the interest out, better earning me some than them!
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I'm still waiting for the letter to open the new RS. I applied the first date of issue 25/7.

Did you complete the online form, letter in post or secure message to close the account?francoghezzi said:

I requested closure via secure message and they wouldn't accept it. Tried completing the online form but still waiting. Really do not want to have the hassle of phoning them...

Mine was opened the same day I applied. You don't need a letter, you can apply online now the old one is closed (I actually applied when the old one was still open and named RS but was working on the basis that it was no longer really a RS as after 31/7)schiff said:I'm still waiting for the letter to open the new RS.
