STAPLES ARE SO BAD I PITY THEM.
I received an invoice last week for my pens. However there are no pens to be seen. Still charged £3 odd for delivery (pretty heavy A4 invoice!). They better look out tonight when I get home!
Shocking!

Same as me, how much trouble would we get into if we set up a company, made some great offer, sold a shed load of rubbish, took the money and just sent out an invoice. We would more than likely do time!!!!
Might give it a go.0 -
I went into a Staples store for the first time last week - how disappointing - didn't have half the stationery stuff I needed and the things they had seemed very dear
won't waste my time with them in the future

I wrote to staples last week complaining about the pants service, and no free gift. I was called today by an agent who appologised, stated that they had some stock problems, but assured mt that they would be getting more stock in and send out the gifts as soon as possible...... we shall seeNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

This seems to be getting a little silly now - 12 pages, the majority of which is speculation over whether or not we'll get our free gifts and the rest is arguments over whether or not we should!
Fact: The offer was put on the site to encourage new customers to come and open accounts with Staples, with the idea we'd all come back time and time again and they'd make their money back, as well as recruiting a few more loyal customers. There was no mention in the Terms and Conditions of a minimum spend, nor did it insist you should have any intention of becoming a regular Staples customer. Offers like this are a gamble, just like the Try Me Frees or even the BOGOF offers - suck people in, even at a loss if necessary and make your money back through customer loyalty.
Fact: Nobody here would have bought a box of pens, an ink cartridge, pencil or ruler from Staples' website had it not been for this offer.
Fact: It is unethical if not illegal to promote your wares with an offer you cannot/will not honour.
Fact: You can always cancel your order and request a refund.
Fact: If you paid by credit card, a refund is not a problem. Contact your card company and say you wish to Charge Back the transaction. Explain you did not receive the goods you ordered and were unable to obtain a refund from the retailer as they refused to reply to you. Bear in mind that under the Consumer Credit Act (and you will find this in the T&Cs of your Credit Card) you can sue the retailer, the card issuer or *both* in the event of being mis-sold goods (or in this case, not sold them at all as I for one haven't seen my gel pen)
Fact: It's almost as simple with Debit Cards. Contact your bank. In both cases you usually get the money refunded pending the chargeback. It also costs Staples a fortune in charges so threatening them with this is always an idea.
Fact: You simply cannot lose your money with this because of the above, so please, everyone simply write them one final email/letter and if you have been charged for your stuff and haven't received it all, simply charge the lot back and forget about the whole affair (Though it'd be wise to avoid Staples from now on...)
[glow=green,2,300]Please everyone,[/glow] can we stop talking about this now? :-/0 -
Couple of additional points to draw this thread out:
Fact: When Staples ran their Free Digital Camera offer a few months ago, I received mine (and a bottle of tippex) next day Staples Camera Offer. When they started running out of stock they contacted people promptly offering an alternative. Personally I feel that Staples is a good company that has hit a very serious problem in the warehouse/office move that is crippling them.
Fact: When ordering I assume most genuine people ordered as a business using a business credit card. If that was the case, you will probably find that most of the consumer specific legislation quoted in this thread may not apply. If you contact Staples check if the legislation applies before quoting it at them. For example the Consumer Credit Act won't apply on a Business credit card, and the Sale of Goods Act will only apply in part (and can be varied by the contract terms and conditions).

They have now taken my money from my account!
Does that mean goods are on there way? Will wait and see over the next few days.
