  • Report them to trading standards. They must be breaking the law:

    Misrepresentation Act 1967
    Sales of Goods Act 1982
    Consumer Protection Act 1987
Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000.

Throw this at them or write to trading standards/watchdog...teach them a lessson.

As consumers we are entiltled to take up offers that shops provide, they should have put sufficient thought or covered thier offer to eliminate people buying pencils and then requesting free gifts. Staples is in the wrong and if taken to court, i'm sure they would face a fine and be forced to honour their customers.

After they cancelled my order on11/11 I wrote and complained about the terrible customer service operation they run and informing them that in my opinion they have used a bogus offer to build up a customer email list. I have today had a reply requesting further info. in order that my complaint can be dealt with.
Major step forward as this was from a real PERSON!!!
Will keep you informed but I think I will have to go elsewhere for my Twinkly pencil.

  • all these people questioning whether people are ligitimate businesses and telling people to stop complaining are quite clearly the ones who were trying to get something for nothing under false pretenses as they obviously dont feel they have a leg to stand on in order to complain. Well this may be the case for you lot but not for everyone else. The offer was clear, make your first order with us as a buiness and get a free gift! if the product or gift has not been recieved that is false advertising and people have every right to complain! If you can't be bothered to complain or feel you have no right to then fine, but leave others to do as they wish as they do have the right to complain!

    MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH!!

Actually spoke to human sales advisor (0800 141414) who advised that surround sound system out of stock, but they will issue a DIGITAL CAMERA instead.

Unfortunately couldn't advise when though! Apparently problems in the warehouse.

Still no welcome pack or reply from customer services!

    Keep on trucking....Paddy has needs!

Well ... it tooks 4 weeks but my expensive eraser has now arrived - funnily enough it WASN'T accompanied by a lovely set of surround sound speakers :P

nothing on my delivery note about them either

After a LONG time I managed to speak to someone at Staples who said major probs in warehouse blah blah free item could be out of stock or probably just hasn't been assigned a place in the warehouse yet so the packers don't know where it is ??? thats a new one

basically said it will be sent when they have it etc etc - do i believe it ::) NO - but will phone back in about 3 or 4 weeks to chase it up :-/ :-/ :-/

    I wonder!

If we do get our speaker system (someday) will will all say sorry?

Don't think so as the service has not been 2nd class but 3rd class and customer service rated 1/10.

That's my bump to keep people informed about the company.

On the other hand Amazon are my vote for an excelent company to deal with even if they dont do free stuff anymore, they still sent what was ordered.

    Buy from Amazon for Christmas.

Yes and Woolworths and Virgin Wines.

And they honoured mistakes, let alone a freebie!
