Have never commented on your diary before, but wanted to send you a big hug and a huge well done. I always enjoy reading your updates, and glad to see you back posting.  Keep your eye on the prize ( your own little home ) and don't let anyone tell you that you are anything less than fab !

I live in a terraced house, and I LOVE it as it's all mine. Yours is in sight. Keep on keeping on.

    Much love x

Your OH doesn't sound very nice. Why does he think it's OK to put you down and call you a child? His DD doesn't sound very nice so I can understand why you wouldn't want to move in. Hope the meeting regarding the mortgage goes well

I just wanted to offer some encouragement. Your plan is a good one.
When I was trying to get this home there were naysayers aplenty. They weren't being mean but thought I should change plan as it was such hard going. I got through in the end. Wishing you luck and more importantly grit  :)

I got the mortgage offer. £200,000.
I'm so happy. I've gone from not being able to get a bank account to this. I'm so thankful.

    Morning.
Drove around different areas last night with OH, to see where I may want to live. When I told my mum that I had a mortgage for £200000, she was a bit underwhelmed. I think she thought I'd be getting a £600000 house like all my siblings have. Another disappointment.
Somebody who has plenty of money, yesterday commented on the amount of time I spend working. She said you live to work, not work to live.
That's ok when you have many zeros in your bank. I don't have that luxury. It annoys me, all these people on their high horses, not living in the real world. OH was a little off with me when I told him I was buying a house. I've given myself options now. It's been a right hard slog since 2019 and I'm tired.

Congratulations on the mortgage offer! Ignore all the noise around you and focus on what you have achieved. They don't know how far you have come.

Thank you for all yor positive comments. I told OH how much debt I had couple of weeks ago. It felt ok to share it with him as he wouldn't have been inherting a problem, as I'm no longer in that situation.

Having been through the debt journey, the sleepless nights, cards declining, having to sell posessions to pay basic bills, not being able to afford to buy my DD's lunch for school, seeing everybody else around me buy lovely things and spend money on themselves, It's given me a new perspective.

I live a very simple life. I have few posessions. All my clothes are from the charity shop, and my car is on its last legs.  I simply don't need fancy things.

I'm busy listing everything on eBay in preparation for moving. When I had my nervous breakdown I started selling on eBay. I've still got a fair bit of stock left and so I'm busy listing it. I can't bear the thought of just giving it away or binning it.

Selling was my sanity when I would be awake for 36 hours straight, and so it's still feels a bit like a comfort blanket. I sold £40 yesterday.

Viewing a house on Thursday. It needs gutting, but I could live with green carpet and a 40 year old kitchen. In fact, I'd appreciate it x

  • Congratulations! A home of your own will be your sanctuary and place of peace - you can shut the door on all the  toxic people in your life and just breathe....
