Headaches can certainly be a sign of high blood pressure; that is how my high BP was picked up.  I'd been to the opticians as wondered if it was because I needed glasses but that wasn't the problem so visited GP (much easier back then!) and that was when the BP was picked up.

  • I'm sorry you're still having such a difficult time with the step daughter. I think your Xmas sounds lovely and it's a shame your OH is going to miss out on alot of it.

    Evening.
Had a nice weekend. Went for a family meal and so that cost me £80. I've put £25 in my savings from eBay.

I've been dog tired today. Got home from work at 8.30pm and cooked tea for tomorrow as I'm not home until 7pm. I've made mince, onion, pea and potato stew with a pastry top. I've served it with honey roasted carrots, mashed Brussels sprouts, roast broccoli and  buttered asparagus.
I'll drop some off for my mum and dad tomorrow.

I've got a load of house work to do but I'm too tired now and so I'll get up at 6 and go through the house. I've sorted a bag of clothes to go to the charity shop and so I'll take that tomorrow. I could sell them at the cash for clothes place but they only give you a couple of pounds and that versus petrol isn't worth it.

I've had to dip into the savings to pay for the Christmas house but I'm owed £1000 from work and so shall put more back in than I've taken out.

I hope tomorrow passes quickly as I need an early night. Still not heard about the blood pressure. I'll ring them tomorrow to find out what is going on. @joedenise- I feel like I have a hangover constantly and I can't shift it.

I've picked up some more work after Christmas. It's £100 a month. I could do without doing it, but it's my DD's friend's daughter and so I've said yes.  It's only round the corner. I'm going to try and just save that up.

    Night  x

  • Morning.
My mum has told me not to drop meals off now. She said she is sick of washing up take away containers and it's hard warming up the food in the microwave. I don't need telling twice.

Dr should be calling me today about my BP. I feel fed up today and I'm not sure why.

My teacher pension has been in contact about some overpayment. I'm getting £374 back. I'm going to use it to pay off my smalled debt of £649.57. If I pay this towards it I can then split the other costs over 5 months and have this paid.

My other two debts that total £5000 have been offered to me at a 20% settlement. I think I can probably do better than that when I have the funds.

    Enjoy your day.

  • I would bite hands off for 20% settlements. It's my task for next month to start haggling and I'm dreading it.

  • Sorry @foxandflowers. I meant 20% off.
That's me multitasking - typing whilst drying my hair!

  • Morning. Picking up blood pressure tablets today. Woke up with another headache that feels like a hangover. Dr. said I have a stressful lifestyle, but I think everybody does. It might be less stressful when I've got rid of this debt. I did walk the dogs to the pharmacy this morning but they were shut at 7.20am. Who would have thought that?

I've had to buy a new printer. I was using Instant Ink and it was working well for me and not costing much. As work has increased my printing is around 1000 pages a month now and so my costs have gone up massively. I bought a new printer for £214 with an extra ink bottle. I also get £40 cash back from some sort of offer that was on.  It's an eco tank and so in the long run will be cheaper. My OH uses one and said that I could use the ink that he orders and so although I've bought the printer, my outgoings now on printing will be nothing.

Finish work at 2pm today. I'm going to list some things on Ebay as I've not had time this week. Christmas ornaments have been listed but I think it may be a little early yet for the mad rush.

    Happy Friday  x

Hi, I’ve just found your diary and will be following along, wishing you well.

Can you claim back from your business for the printer since you bought it for that?

Personally I would accept OH offer to pay towards your share of the holiday, maybe contributing what I would have budgeted for a more modest holiday. Who cares what his DD says about it - she’ll just come up with something else to gripe about anyway. You shouldn’t lose out just because OH doesn’t listen to your wishes re reasonable expenses plus you deserve to be treated!

Not managed to list on Ebay, I shall try again tonight. Got my blood pressure tablets and took one on Friday night at 5pm. It said I could take it at any time.
I ended up not feeling too great and had to go to bed at 7pm. I was drowsy, my teeth were sore and I couldn't cope with anything touching my skin. I slept for 11 hours. I took it again last night before bed and slept in until 9am. I never do that, but must have slept through the side effects. Blood pressure has dropped a little bit.

I've walked 12k this weekend in the rain and mud, in order to support the lowering of the BP.  Went flying on a wooden beam that was on the path and ended up with mud all over my clothing and a black toe. I'm so clumsy! I bet my BP was raging when I was on the floor.

Money saving today? Not much, but the new printer is set up and I've printed loads today without thinking I've gone over my limit.

Off to work for an hour and half. Enjoy your evening.

@stymied- Thank you for wishing me well x

Morning. Money from the excess pension has come through. I could have purchased a nice handbag but instead I paid it off one of the debts and set up a payment plan for the rest for £81 a month. This will be gone by Feb. I don't even own a handbag!

    Other debts sit at
    £1441.76
    £3721.34
    £6544.49

The next one I'm going to tackle is the £1441.76. I've already been offered 20% off it. I'll save up £1153 and then negotiate a FF.

To think I started with £45000 and now it sits at 3 debts. For the first time it feels like a challenge now and not a noose around my neck. I'm feeling positive.

Day work- We've picked up more work and I get £244 of this a month before tax.

I need to sit down and work out how much money I'm actually earning, as this fluctuates constantly. I just know I have more money coming in than going out. A good position to be in, but I need to be a little more controlled with the amounts.

Credit score is slowly going up and when the last debt drops off in March, it should show me in a better light. I've gone from not even being able to have an overdraft or new bank account, to being offered credit cards every day. They are a ridiculous APR, but still I'm being offered credit, which has to be a good indicator of progress.

    Enjoy your day. x
