It's been a busy day today. I've started to empty out the loft. As I used to sell clothes I've got bags and bags up there. I've counted 12 so far. It's frankly a joke, but another reminder of how poorly I was in 2020. I hoarded. I had no control and so controlled the clutter. I'm paying for it now, as it's all got to be cleared out.

Picked up four pieces of furniture from an auction today, or rather got a man and van to do it. I paid £14 per item and £40 for the van. They are selling online for £257. I'm going to list the three I'm not keeping. I think I'm going to get all my furniture from auctions. My sister told me to get a Wren kitchen on IFC for 5 years. I'm not doing that, debt scares me now. I'll buy a second hand one from FB and find somebody to make it fit. If I don't have the money then I can't have it.

My sister has been mocking the amount I've been paying in rent £1000 a month. She been saying 'I can't believe you are paying that'. I didn't really have a choice I don't think. Must be nice to live in an ivory tower.

I'm not taking my settee and have found a young person who has just moved out of a HMO. I'm going to gift it to her.

I know everybody is thinking that the house I'm buying is a dump, but it will be my dump, and I'm proud that I've been able to put my name to it. My dad is very excited. He's got loads of ideas for the place. I'm going to turn it into a palace for myself.
    Happy Friday x

Sounds like your sister could be put on an information diet- seeing as she doesn't seem to value, respect or support you whenever she does get details about your life. Maybe giving her a more vague perspective would reduce the judgement and bile! x

@dreaming i am so excited for her. I feel exactly the same way.

I cleared out the loft yesterday. It took all day. Bedroom 2 furniture has gone, was collected by a couple, as has the tent that I bought from FB for family holidays that never happened. I also sold a dog cage for £20 that I got from an auction for £2.

I'm a little upset tonight. My niece has been round and told me that her mum and dad (my sister) are looking at buying a second property. It's obviously more expensive than mine, in a better location and looks nicer.

My OH just sat there singing 'Anything you can do ...'

I don't know why she always wants me to be the underdog.

DS is selling all my old ebay stock as I don't have time. He has made a right good go of it, and has sold £1000 so far. I'm very happy for him. Siater told me that her DD is going to start doing the same. 🙄

    Happy Sunday x

@Moneyonmymind1979 - thankyou. Apart from daughter's debts, we as a family have had a tough few years and she has been a rock to me and her dad. Just keeping everything crossed it all goes through now. It should do as her seller will be a cash buyer for a house with no chain above.  Re your sister - it just sounds like plain old insecurity/sibling rivalry to me. You are obviously intelligent and hard-working (I remember you from your previous diary) and the only way she can compete is by having bigger and better (in her eyes). When I come up against that sort of behaviour I tend to let them go on about it and then say something inconsequential like "well that all sounds lovely" (or my best one is to pause and say "oh right") then change the subject to something totally irrelevant like the weather or other small talk.

  • Sister didn't like the house, she os going to keep looking. Currently sat outside an auction house waiting to collect some canvas wardrobes. I' not taking old furniture with me and so these for £6 will do until I have money to buy new or get fitted ones.

I also may have bought a box of underwear for £25 to sell. My hours have dropped significsntly with it being the end of term and so I can focus a bit more effort on eBay.

Sold a piece of furniture for £50 that I paid £20 for. Booked my solicitor now and so things shoukd gwt moving with the house. I'm looking forward to having a project to work on when DD goes to uni. I think it will be easier on me her leaving if I have something exciting to be doing.

    Enjoy your day x
