Suspended from eBay for 12 months! :( what can I do?

He was only out to wreck my auction thats why, however it's cost him £15 in the process!
He may have had a bit to drink and thought a bike would be a good idea, hence his mistake with the amount. Then when he sobered up his wife persuaded him a bike was NOT a good idea.
I used to sell a lot on ebay and don't like NPB's as much as the next person. However I am never going to get so cynical that I believe all NPB's are doing it just to be malicious. There are genuine reasons why people don't/can't pay, that is why the distance selling laws say you have the right to cancel within seven days.
If someone contacts me with a good reason why they don't want/need the item now, or why they can't pay then I never tried to force them to pay or gave them neg feed back. I simply asked them to reply to the ebay emails when I filed a mutually agreed not to complete the sale.
On the other hand, if someone failed to contact me or reply to my emails, or had a lame excuse like they found another one cheaper, or bid on two items hoping they would win one of them then I went after them like a pitt bull.0 -
Oddly enough there were people on this board singing the praises of NPBs not that long ago:

I cant see how npbs would make a loss for anyone anyway!! U get your fees back and still have the item to sell!! Whats worse surely is paying for something and not receiving it!!!
Im not condoning bidding and not paying i have never done it nor would i, but i dont see that it loses people money!! u still have the item to sell. An inconvenience maybe yes, but not a financial loss.0 -
As far as I know the seller only gets back the FVF (final value fee) back.. Not the listing fee too.I cant see how npbs would make a loss for anyone anyway!! So there is no way of contacting ebay with your details and asking them to check something like this? IF (I don't think this has been mentioned by the OP?) they have changed their email address then how do you think ebay recognised they were the same seller? Because they have records that are not simply linked to the users log in details perhaps???
Hitting bad times sticks in your memory but I don't see how that helps you remember your ebay details after a year of not using them. Unless your user name was Bad Times and your password was Skint.
The OP, and yuorself, suggested they had not realised the suspension was still in place? It was for 12 months and people usually remember the month in which they hit particularly bad times. In that case, given the OP had forgotten the original log in details, it would have been sensible to wait until the month after they knew they hit said hard times. Not on par with rocket science is it?
It may make no sense to you, me and others who read this, but that does not mean the OP was trying to do something they knew to be wrong. People often do things that make no sense to us, but it does not mean there is any malice in the act.
No possibly not - but doesn't mean they didn't either! And you have to remember the OP was a NPB for three transactions and, it seems, going on their lack of response, that they did not even bother to contact the sellers!
Why would they wait "about a year" before trying to create a new account if they just wanted to get round the ban. Would they not have tried it sooner, like a month after they got the ban?
And why wouldn't they, after waiting a year, take the trouble to make sure they were above board. Unless they didn't want ebay to know they were up and running again?
People who have been suspended through no fault of their own have the right to moan and say they will leave ebay. And, for good ebayers, that is a loss.
People whose own actions have led to their suspension (the OP) have no right to moan and threaten to leave ebay altogether. To be perfectly honest, would most ebayers see their departure as a loss??? I can't see many crying into their keyboards somehow!0 -

When I sold on ebay, stopped at the beginning of this year, you got the FVF back but not the listing fee. You could relist it and if it sold you only paid one listing fee, if it didn't sell you paid two listing fees.
If it was an auction and there was more than one bidder you could offer the item to the second highest bidder at their highest bid price.0 -

You will see I was actually having a go at someone else who posted saying that as having two accounts made no sense to them the OP must have been doing it to "get round the rules"
Actually, having two accounts is not the part I fail to understand! I can fully appreciate why some people have more than one account.
I find it odd that the OP did not try and retrieve the old account details, or any information form ebay about the account before opening a new one. And that is what makes me think the OP was trying to hide something from ebay.
I hope that explains my point better as you seem to have taken particular issue with it and I'd hate for you to be posting 'my words' and opinion incorrectly.

That's a fair point, but in this case I do not think it is justified.
People do what seems to others as stupid things, this does not mean there is any bad intention for doing it. I can see that creating another account, if you have forgot the details of the old one, and who wouldn't after a year, may seem the easiest option to some people. But others may see it as a deliberate way of "beating the system" or breaking the rules.
I also seem to remember that the OP said the suspension on the first account was lifted two days after the second one was created. ebay then discovered they had created an account when they were suspended, and suspended them for another year.
I fail to understand why someone, who had been suspended for a year, would deliberately try to get round the suspension by breaking the rules two days before the suspension was up. It's a bit like serving a one year prison sentence and making an escape bid two days before you are due to be released!
People on here have said the OP was deliberately trying to abuse the system/break the rules etc. But, on the balance of probability I think it is more likely to be a genuine mistake with no malice intended.
If the OP had said "I got a one year ban on ebay and the next day I tried to create a new account and they doubled the ban to two years" I would think "Serves you right"
But when they say they thought it would be easier to create a new account as they couldn't remember the details for the old one, and it was two days before the ban was up I have to think that it could be just a mistake with no malicious intention. OK, a silly mistake, but a good chance it was an honest one.I hope that explains my point better as you seem to have taken particular issue with it and I'd hate for you to be posting 'my words' and opinion incorrectly.
I hope I don't repeat your words or opinion incorrectly, but if I do please point it out as it means I have got the wrong end of the stick. I know I some times start a post intending to mention something that someone else has said, then when I get to that point I have forgotten the exact words they used, but I hope the words I use still convey the same meaning and spirit of what that person said.0 -
To all Sellers: One quick way to stop NPB's overnight;
If you use Fixed Price (BIN) Listings & accept Paypal then use the 'Immediate Payment Required' option.
No Payment = No Sale = No NPB's0 -

I think you are referring to auction wreckers (see the name) as that thread was about scamming sellers where some buyers set up accounts purely ton interfere with the auction to stop naive buyers being conned.
Auction wrecking is not allowed under ebay rules either. However your referring to that thread does rather prove the point of this one, thank you. By bidding and not paying auction wreckers are trying to put the sellers out of business and make it impossible for them to carry on, which is basically what NPBs do in ordinary circumstances to a lesser extent.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
