Suspended from eBay for 12 months! :( what can I do?

Don't ebay have the means of reminding people of lost details then?
Yes but if you have changed your email address since the last time you used it and can't remember your user name it may not work. Also, the OP hit unusually bad times at the time of the ban - things like that tend to stick in your memory.
Hitting bad times sticks in your memory but I don't see how that helps you remember your ebay details after a year of not using them. Unless your user name was Bad Times and your password was Skint.Opening a brand new account makes no sense - unless it was a deliberate attempt at bypassing the ban of course!
It may make no sense to you, me and others who read this, but that does not mean the OP was trying to do something they knew to be wrong. People often do things that make no sense to us, but it does not mean there is any malice in the act.
Why would they wait "about a year" before trying to create a new account if they just wanted to get round the ban. Would they not have tried it sooner, like a month after they got the ban?0 -

Thanks for your support geordie joe. I hope some of the people on here that are providing their sarcastic comment get suspended, then they will now how hard it is to communicate with eBay customer support. There is no reasoning with them.
By all means have rules and regulations that users have to stick to BUT if there is a small honest mistake made by a user eBay should not be so hot headed about it!
The way i see it is I have been suspended for having two accounts, the only reason the suspensions are currently in place is is i setup another account as the first account was suspended. I had the first suspension uplifted within about 2 days of realising I had made a mistake but now its a 12 month susension for the sake of it!
Why do eBay allow users to have more than one account then? I cant see no need reason for it apart from users hiding their feedback? "eBay relies on user reports via its feedback mechanism to help prevent fraud."
So If someone has two seller accounts and sells fake items or does not deliver their items, The seller can use both accounts and can sell twice as much items in a certain period before someone complains and eBay does something about it? I think eBay only investigates accounts after complaints from 3 or more people so they can get away with selling 6 fake items if they have 2 accounts within a short period before they get suspended?
After all my moaning I will probably end up using eBay again after the 12 month suspension BUT people need to be aware that eBay does not care about its users, well those buying anyway!0 -
It's easy to forget that Ebay are interested in one thing and one thing only and that's profit. They care not at all for buyers, the don't pay anything and they care very little about most sellers, power sellers get looked after a little.
If anything goes wrong they will hide behind the "we're only a middle man", they put not time and effort into making it a safer place for people to buy and sell on as it would cost them money, they therefore rely on people reporting things and then if they can be bothered they might remove the odd listing. They only thing they do clamp down hard on is "As new" in the title.
It would be fairly easy to make Ebay/Paypal a much more secure place with far fewers scams but it's down to that money/profit word again and why bother when people keep coming back for more.0 -

Yes, it would serve them right. Even if you have done nothing wrong, or made an honest mistake you can get suspended. ebay do pick on a few people and suspend them for little or no reason. I think it's so when they get dragged onto Watchdog they can claim they are trying to make ebay safer by quoting the number of accounts they have suspended.By all means have rules and regulations that users have to stick to BUT if there is a small honest mistake made by a user eBay should not be so hot headed about it!
I agree, it's not just ebay but many other sites will simply suspend you or ban you without question. The way i see it is I have been suspended for having two accounts, the only reason the suspensions are currently in place is is i setup another account as the first account was suspended. Yes, you are not allowed to create a new account if one of your accounts is suspended. Don't know if ebay tell you when the suspension is lifted, but you would think their software would not allow you to create an account while you are suspended. After all, prevention is better than cure and a simple "Sorry, you can't create a new account while you are suspended. Please try again after such and such a date"Why do eBay allow users to have more than one account then? I cant see no need reason for it apart from users hiding their feedback? "eBay relies on user reports via its feedback mechanism to help prevent fraud."
Well according to at least one user on here, if what you have done makes no sense to them you have done it with malicious intent. As having two accounts makes no sense to me I can only assume those who do have two accounts have them for malicious purposes.0 -

i dont think you can generalise like that i have 3 accounts and they are not used for malicious purposes, i have a business account, an account where i occasionally buy lots to sell through my business and a personal buying/selling account - nothing nasty to hide i just dont want my customers noseying through my personal purchases and selling my bf's used computer games on my business account and giving away my suppliers to my competition
 Democracy is a process by which the people are free to choose the man who will get the blame.:j0 -

I was once an ebay seller with 5000+ positive feedback and my ebay dealings made up about 60% of my entire income, i only had to work 16 hours a week for an employer to pay my mortgage and feed myself.
If you were to attempt, as you say you are, to make an income on ebay that will pay your mortgage then you will fully understand why ebay are strict on non paying bidders and I fully support their decision to protect buyers from NPB.
When it can effect the lives of the person selling, or in your case three people selling, I think you must appreciate that people are not going to take to your comments too kindly.
I hope that should you get your ebay account working again and start selling you will appreciate how much NPB can affect your business.
They are the sole reason I am now working 40 hours a week, selling nothing on ebay and all this has achieved in loss in revenue for me, loss in revenue for ebay and higher prices for consumers. So there are no winners.0
