Trading 212 2FA

I have just noticed when making a withdrawal now its necessary to enable 2FA.
Before i made withdrawals without having to do this.
What is the process, it first askes for a selfie.
Can it all be done on laptop without using the app?

The selfie is in case you cannot authenticate yourself through 2FA (e.g. autheticator app or backup codes not avialable)

Seems like it needs a smart device to use 2FA.
A few weeks ago i could withdraw without any 2FA, what has changed?

Is it that it's necessary to enable 2FA for login or each time you withdraw?

This just sounds like good security...

There are authenticators you can install to you browser. I haven't personally used them.

I can log in without 2FA.
But when i go to make a withdrawal i get a pop up to enable 2FA to proceed.
Previous 3 withdrawals i made this was not necessary,
As withdrawals can only be made to linked account (where deposits were made from)

Sorry can't help or relate. I turned 2FA on the minute I set up my account.

Are you able to buy/sell stocks or funds? I was always surprised it was possible to get access to the trading account with only a username and password by default. It would be good if they made 2FA mandatory for any financial activity on the accounts.

There was an email about 2FA last week. I think it had been optional but perhaps now you need it. You don't have a smartphone or tablet? I use Google Authenticator.

As above, I use Google authenticator (on Android, not sure about iphones.)

Very easy to setup and use.

Yes, i've been able to buy etf, sell free shares, and up until now able to make withdrawals all without 2FA.
2FA is ok if they could send a 6 digit code via sms like most other financial institutions.

Don't think i received any email
I don't use smartfone or tablet.
Up until now i had been getting on fine just using a laptop for Trading 212.
I have a simple mobile phone, so if they could send a 6 digit code like other companies do it would be fine.

You will have to play the game, I'm afraid.

Personally I like the algorithmic/app based 2FA. No need to rely on the text system working, no potential delays in sending, in my pocket or nearby at all times.
