Good morning all xx
I'm up, made my bed, gathered up towels and tea towels and set them swishing, completed Wordle and Connections (lost a few lives today but got there eventually), and I'm supping my first brew.
Overnight I renewed my membership with WAC. Sigh. Heyho.
Final day of TdF today. And they've changed things. Instead of endless laps of Paris with the winner already decided yesterday, it's a time trial from Monaco to Nice. I don't think it will change the winner though. He's not a man, he's a machine.....cynically it has made me question whether there's something dodgy going on there. What a shame that I can't simply marvel at his amazing performance. The world we live in today eh?
Heyho. Oh I already said that 🤣
Brew 2 is needed.
Have a good day y'all

good morning all
budy day yesterday, cleaned at work and realised that the toilet issue is probably worse than i thought; have arranged for plumber to shut off water. Had pegged out washing and got it dried before rain. Also did some knitting and half an hour in the garden, removing grass from rhubarb patch. showered and went out with friends for meal and got involved in young lady’s (presumably) MH crisis. Called police given she was wearing hospital clothes and no shoes; ended up not having dessert but we got young lady safe. Finished night in another bar and got home around midnight!
Got 2 loads through WM so will peg them out later. And i need to iron.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Good afternoon
Busy day so far - 2 hours weeding at the allotment MAD style, DD made us all brunch, WUDUPA, kitchen cleaned including the hob and sink, wm x1 done and hung out, clean clothes from airing cupboard returned to rightful owners. Out later this afternoon for a get together of DH’s family. Oh and I finished my book this morning too.
I really must meal plan - fridge is fit to bursting, mainly f&v, especially copious amounts of spinach and chard.
Well done Valli, an eventful evening.7 -
Had a coffee with Pops and Babs this morning.
DS called to see me at lunchtime 😍
Towels and tea towels dried outside, brought in, FUPA.
Online order made for birthday presents for August and November, and a Christmas present.

YL - hope the review goes well tomorrow. Be patient with yourself - overcoming anxiety may well take some time but stick with it.Valli - what a drama, but good that you were able to help her.I went to the 8.30 this morning and also to the bakery for a p-a-c. Made us a coffee mid-morning and we shared the p-a-c.Apart from food prep and washing up I haven't done much else. It's cooler than yesterday but still quite warm.5

Cloth_of_Gold said:@Honey_Bear I much prefer older literature. I often find that contemporary literature, like contemporary films and TV dramas, is too 'gritty' for my taste. I mean, for example, in real life is does everyone go around swearing like troopers? When I watch films from the 40s or 50s I never think to myself, 'this would be so much better if everyone were effing and blinding and the violence were not suggested but graphically portrayed'. I don't think I'm a prude but all this sort of thing seems to me to add nothing and is just what the makers assume people expect - and maybe most people do these days. There are films I can't watch for the same reasons @Cloth_of_Gold, Belovéd and I rewatched Chariots of Fire for the fourth or fifth time tonight and we're rewatching old Mash reruns every evening for as long as they're being shown on some random Freeview channel. We always watch at least the first episode of every new drama series on Channels 1 - 5 but frankly the writing isn't good enough at the moment to make it watchable.Belovéd usually manages to find about three or four black and white films from the 40s and 50s most weekends for whiling away the hours when he's watching sport on TV. He absolutely loves them.
Better is good enough.7 -
oh I love Mash… got lots of series on DVD. And i love old B/w films too. A kid for 2 farthings is available currently…I player?
