You could ask for recommendations from people locally?
My preferred carpet supplier is a really tatty looking sole trader. We used him ageS ago when we didn’t have much money and have been back many times since.Carpet right and co seem to make more money on the credit facilities they offer than the carpetsMFW 2021 #76 £5,145

I am in the same sitution, am waiting for a westex carpet that was meant to be delivered and fitted next week the 23rd of July. I paid up-front 3k from Barcalys debit card. I havnt spoken to the bank yet, but by the looks of things I am not protected with a chargeback, as Barcalys do not offer, it?
If someone could give me some advise that would be great0 -

But you can not start process till day after carpet was due to be fitted. Unless you get something in writing stating that you will not be getting the carpet.Life in the slow lane1 -

It says here;
Unfulfilled orders
If a company you have placed an order with goes into administration before your item is delivered, contact the retailer to check the status of your order.
Most larger companies will keep their customer service helplines open until all of their shops have been closed, so will usually be able to assist if you have the details of your order to hand.
If your purchase is completed, packaged and ready to be dispatched to the retailer's warehouse, they should still be able to fulfil your order. You may need to reconfirm delivery and, in some circumstances, arrange to collect the item yourself if they are unable to get it to you.
If the company is unable to fulfil your order and you have already laid down either a partial deposit or the full amount, there are several courses of action available to you. The most appropriate will depend on the value of your unfulfilled order and how you paid:
If you paid by credit card
If the value of your order was between £100 and £30,000 and you paid at least some by credit card (this can be any amount either under or over the £100 product value minimum), your card provider will be obliged to issue a refund.
This is thanks to Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, which states that the credit provider is "jointly and severally liable" for your purchase.
If your order was valued at less than £100 or more than £30,000 and you paid on credit card, you will not be able to claim in this way.

I was looking into this recently as I had been considering buying some laminate flooring from them. I may still buy it as the one I want is cheaper than from other sellers, and I can still buy more from another seller if I need more at a later date.

Not a single mention of Debit cards or the fact that you can claim back on both debit or credit cards no matter what the amount is via chargeback in this situation.
S75 would never come into play unless payment was made more than 540 days ago.Life in the slow lane0 -
We are in a similar scale of problem as the OP. Not far off £7k of carpets/underlay and were due to have the fitting in August. We didn't use our credit card (the limit wasn't anywhere high enough, lesson learned there) but this thread reminded me about debit card chargeback, so I am now sleeping better. We decided to see what action we could take rather than waiting for additional news. We went into the local store and found out that they had our carpet in the depot in readiness for the fitting. We asked if we could go ahead and have it delivered to our home. Our thinking was that at least we would then have the goods. After a nervous week of waiting the delivery did come. However, only the carpet arrived. No underlay. I phoned back and they explained that they hadn't realised they didn't have enough underlay at the depot, so now we wait for another call to say when the underlay is available. Slightly more concerning, they also said that if they cannot get the underlay, they may be able to give us an alternative one from the depot store. It feels like some progress in that we have the carpets at home, the most expansive part of the equation. The staff at the store are very helpful and we do feel for them. They probably are worrying about their future work situation and don't have information/answers themselves. It's a waiting game again, wait to see if we have underlay delivered, wait to see if the fitting will still be arranged. We do have the contact details for the fitters now though.Anyone thinking of trying to store carpets at home as a stopgap measure - be ready for climbing around your home to navigate the giant rolls.ElmoR1

I’m due to have one of two carpets that I ordered on the 10th of July today. I paid just under £1,500.00 on my debit card and was told to pay the fitter in cash when he arrives. If they don’t come today am I able to claim a full refund via my bank which is HSBC?0
