Carpetright administration

Hello, newbie here…
I have just paid for flooring for my home for £7k to Carpetright, I paid on credit card. Woke up today to hear they’re going into administration and now really worried… I guess I have to wait and see what happens but am I at risk here of losing all this money? We have had fitters book in for the fittings but not until the end of August when the flooring will be ready so quite a way off for lots to happen between now and then

Is there a process that typically happens in these situations or anything I should do to somehow protect ourselves.

We have no flooring in our house currently and so it’s absolutely necessary we get this done but no way we can afford to drop another £7k if we lose this! :(

Hoping someone can offer advice please

many thanks in advance

Since this news has only just been announced, it's hard to speculate on what may happen.  For instance, they may get bought by someone else who will honour the existing orders and what-not.  So for now it's probably best to just wait and see what happens.
But the bottom line is that if they do collapse completely and your goods end up not being delivered, you'd make either a chargeback or S75 claim against your credit card who would reimburse the money you'd lost.

All you can do for now is to sit it out and wait.  Everything may work out fine and you get your flooring as expected.  OR, Carpetright may cease trading in which case you likely won't get the flooring but will get your money back through the credit card (either chargeback or S75).  These things usually become clear in less than the 6 weeks until your flooring is planned to be fitted.

The company said it had "begun promising conversations with interested parties"
Orders will continue to be fulfilled, but the firm will not be providing any refunds. Instead, alternative products can be offered and earlier deliveries arranged.

I'm planning on having lino laid in my kitchen. The Carpetright surveyor has just left this morning with all the measurements. He said that someone will call me with the total costs, including fitting and will give me a link to pay for the order with my credit card. He "assured" me that all existing orders will be fulfilled.
My question is: What happens with Section 75 if I decide to go ahead and pay for the work and the company is shutdown? Would I still be able to claim a refund knowing that Carpetright was GOING into Administration?

    I've completed the  sentence.

"Not a company i would be handing my money over (to ever)."

At the moment it's not going into administration. They have a week to sell it or sort out the finances otherwise it will go into administration.

For me, I would simply wait a week before committing.

Yes that's true. I'll wait until they send me their invoice and delay my acceptance for about a week to see which way things go for them. And I'll also get an idea of what I'll need to spend if I have to look for another supplier.

Go to another shop. Plenty of local ones that will be much better. 👍

It would not go down S75 route anyway. It would be a chargeback to get the money back.
