The response does not sound as though it came from Contestor Legal. OP, are you positive that is from them? It sounds more like the kind of response you'd get from bottom-dwelling a PPC or their roboclaim solicitors.

I’m certain it’s them. I’ve redacted a bit to avoid names. Have I gone to a similarly named company in error?

    Yes.

And your email reply was from the right firm but they are completely wrong. They even called your leasehold agreement a 'tenancy' (wrong term).

You could try the Leasehold Advisory Service or a local Leaseholder Advice 'drop-in' which some Councils or Citizens' Advice might know about.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yeah it was super strange, the person on the phone didn’t seem to understand the concept of a lease giving exclusive use, and was one of those “well there’s signs so you’re kinda stuffed” people

anyways, I’ve got a claim initiated via home insurance legal. They’ve requested all correspondence to the management company.

I’m just waiting for management company to get back to me. They’ve gone from replying to my emails trying to argue their case, to telling me that it’s been escalated and they will be in touch when ready.

I’ve also sent them a much friendlier couple of emails explaining how the camera doesn’t even help with the parking because people just cover their plates and then can park, so it’s totally pointless… they seem to potentially be receptive to letting people install bollards but let’s see where that goes. I’m quite interested to hear their rationale for this being an appropriate solution to unwanted parking vs using a simple bollard.

On another note, I’ve requested a breakdown of all service charge costs and buildings insurance in line with my legal right to do so. I’m going to audit all of the service charge, I highly suspect there’s a lot of waste / excessive spend.

I’m also considering setting up a residents association, and trying to kick them out and make my own management company. Do you have any experience of that kind of thing?
