Letter received from Klarna Final Notice - I've never even used Klarna!

Incredible how long this has being going on , looks like Klarna hasn’t shut whatever loophole is allowing this to happen and causing so much distress. It took 4 months before Klarna resolved my case , apologising but also saying it’s systems are robust enough to resist fraud in most cases ! I had to speak to their security a few weeks before they emailed me to say case closed , and no purchases could be made in my name unless I contacted them. It’s ridiculous that fraud can be committed just using a name and address . It was with DHgate btw , which seems to be the case with others on this thread . I also had a identity fraud with PayPal a few weeks later , a credit agency (Wescot) sent me a letter demanding nearly £900 , I called them and they were quite reassuring and resolved the issue in a week !
PayPal realised it was fraud, and a week later also prevented my actual account being taken over by fraudsters . I get nervous these days whenever I get mail , I don’t want to have to waste time and energy on this . I have registered with CIFAS ( a lady at Wescot told me that the fraud occurred in March before I registered) .1 -
The whole process has left us exhausted. Klarna adjudicator has now upheld our complaint about how everything was handled. Beggars belief how these fraudsters can do it so easily. It does make you wonder if its inside knowledge.1

I'm only responding to this as I have just this morning received the same letter many people have. Klarna effectively threatening me with debt collection agency if I don't pay immediately. Also states that they've sent several communications previously (they haven't). I have never set an account up with Klarna or even considered it.The payment requested is £110.14 and for a website called Tiqets, which I didn't even know existed until this morning. Checked them out before calling Klarna to see whether it was an obvious scam but seems to legitimately sell tickets to theatre, disneyland, etc. The funniest part to me is that I'm a housebound disabled person, so why the hell would I buy tickets to something I can't actually attend!Anyway, I called Klarna this morning using the number from their website. I didn't want to use the numbers from the letter, just in case but it seems the numbers on the letter are legit as many others have pointed out. I spoke to a customer service person called John and he confirmed that an account was set up with my name and address, as well as the order number on the letter being real and raised a dispute. John closed this account and blocked access to it. He took my email address and name to contact me once this is resolved (I assume). He was very helpful and the tone of his voice suggested they deal with this a lot. I'm still not happy about how easy it is for people to do this though. How in god's name can a company providing finance just allow people to buy things on credit using a name and address?I checked ClearScore, TransUnion & Experian (the latter two that Klarna claims to subscribe to) and there are no records on any of new credit agreements, payments pending or any outstanding debts, so thankfully seems my credit score is not impacted. It seems this is something that won't stop happening until Klarna tighten their rules re: how easy it is to sign up to pay for things via their services. Pretty shocking how often it's happening tbh.

I should add that I've also reported this to Action Fraud with what little information I have and have recevied a crime reference number. Should I also make a complaint to Klarna, or wait to see whether I have further contact from them first?

Hello all.
sadly I find myself here too.
although my situation seems more serious then everything I’ve read on this thread.
i tried to pay for something with my klarna account and had a message stating that there is a debt owed on my end and I was in shock. I knew I pay everything on time so I contacted them. They said I was clear but I asked why this message came up. Have them my email addresses. They came back and pulled up 3 unknown addresses, stating that there was orders unpaid in my name! I was in shock, I already suffer from anxiety so this had me on the edge. I asked what this was for because it definitely wouldn’t be me and the agent told me to find out who this was and ask them to pay it off! Again I was in shock because how can I find out if it is fraudulent? The purchases were from shops such as temu, H&M, dunelm and a few others but I’ve no idea what was purchased or when. The debt message that showed up was for over a thousand pounds! They seem very confused and since the issue I have contacted them again and they said it was an error but I know it isn’t true and they simply do not have their affairs in order so I’ve now send them screen shot evidence to have it investigated further.
im so anxious because I can see all the issues here are Dhgate related but not mine. Terrified0 -
The only way I could get recognised by them about my Final Notice letter was to email them and then you will have proof you are dealing with the matter. Try not to worry as they can not hold you liable for goods not bought by you.1
