Just opened up an account and today and started the switch.

Have also joined blue rewards. But couple of questions…

Do I need to wait until the switch completes (30th August) to put in the £800

how long does the £800 need to be in

currently have a £0.00 balance as it’s new, therefor do I need to put in £5 to cover the blue rewards fee?

    Appreciate any help, thank you.

Safest bet is to pay in the £800 now. There's no requirement for it to stay in the account at all, so you can pay in/out straightaway. Only caveat is that it takes a few days for the PIN sentry thing to activate, so you won't be able to set up a new payee to withdraw the money until that gets sorted. And yes, I'd put £5 in the account to cover if the monthly fee gets taken next month - not 100% sure it does get taken in the first month, but better to avoid your account accidently going overdrawn if possible.

How have people been able to pay in the £800 and withdraw it immediately (some within minutes) if you can't set up a new payee for a few days?
Also, if there is some money in the account you switch from, would this be used to pay the £5 blue rewards fee?

Thinking of trying this via the website instead of the App if possible as the whole pin code nightmare sounds a right hassle and I've never done banking on a phone before

If you wait until the account is fully operational, then you can pay the £800 in and withdraw it the same day.

Barclays clearly state, that to qualify for the switch incentive the account has to be opened via their app.

Thanks @Stargunner.  Someone on here was able to get it via the website instead, been paid the bonus, and with the offer ending soon I thought it might be best to try it that way if the App is causing problems and delays in getting any pin codes sent out
  • It’s now Thursday 22nd, my full switch completed on Friday 9th (I’ve fulfilled all the other conditions).  No text advising that the £175 is on its way has arrived yet, nor has the switch bonus itself … it’s still early on but most people seem to have received a text by this point?

My switch completed on 15/8 so about a week after yours. I got the text confirming the £175 is on its way on 20/8.

Wow, that’s worrying (although happy for you, though)!

opened account on Saturday and paid in £800and did the switch, signed up to blue rewards thing.  Monday get a message saying they can't do the switch from my virgin account and that they will be sending me a letter out.  App was working fine on Saturday, now I can't login...When I enter my pin it comes up with "00002 Sorry, something has gone wrong" with it saying to try again at a later time.

Then receive email saying I need to pay in £800 to use the blue rewards thing errrr there is already £800 in the account......No card has been sent out.  I get the feeling they have closed the account.  I was with Barclays 12 years ago and didn't leave on the best of terms however I never owed them money.

No letter received and its now Thursday.....honestly what a shambles...
The letters will be in the app documents area. I know this is still a problem for you but don't assume the account and processes aren't still live.

    Cheers
Yeah see this is the problem letters are in docs area i don't doubt but with no access to the app, it's a pointless exercise them sending it to them.

Going to give it until Thurs this week and if they haven't got in contact via letter then i'll be calling them up.  Received letter on Saturday saying the switch wasn't going ahead after a review of my account and that they would be getting in contact separately.

Not worried about the £800 as I know i'll get it back at some point just that I don't want to end up being passed from department to department.  As I said the whole thing is a shambles, haven't had this with any other bank i have switched to either.

I suppose this shows why I ended up leaving them in 2012 lol
Well I have had to take a day off work today to get this sorted as everytime I phoned up there was a 50 minute wait.  today was slightly better at 30 minutes..  Lovely lady at the call desk got me access to my account online however the app is proving to be somewhat of a pain in the backside.  Have had to re-register to try and get back on the app, currently waiting on my 3rd attempt with the security video/driving license photo thing.

Letter received dated the 7th August stated that after a review of my account, they would be unable to continue with the switch and would write out to me.  However, nothing has been received from them.  Once I get access to the app will try the switch again and see if it goes through as in the grand scheme of things time is quickly running out as it needs to be started in before the 30th!

Certainly one of the hardest bank switches I have had lol
