Only problem is my nervous side is now kicking in. I am flying out of Heathrow and into Dallas Fort Worth where i have an hour and half to make my connecting flight to Las Vegas.
I have heard mixed opinions saying i will have to take my bags through imigration and then check them back in and board the second flight. Is this right or will my bags be automatically redirected to my connecting flight?
Also is an hour and half long enough for my connection?
You always have to recheck your bags if you are making a connection in the US on a flight originating outside the US - but it's not like you have to collect your bags and then haul them through the terminal to the check-in desk, stand in a new queue, etc - there will be a re-check area. You will basically pick your bags up from one conveyor belt and take them to another conveyor belt - all within the same general area. Don't stress about this too much - our experience is that it's a matter of a few minutes tops to get this done.
An hour and a half should be fine provided that there's no significant delay on departure. Shortly after you are in the air they will announce the expected flight time - we normally find that this is quite a bit shorter than the schedule would lead you to believe as they do add in some time for delays.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

also provided your 2 flights are under the same ticket number , they will stick you on the next flight to LV if you miss the your booked one for unforseen delays. i would imagine a regularish sevice . who is the flight with ??Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
I've connected through Dallas several times to Vegas-even with a terminal change I've not yet missed a connection so you should be fine.
On another point not sure if I found www.vegashotelhunt.com here but it yielded a fab offer for MGM Grand of $89 in July-have several very happy friends who have managed to switch their reservations from $179 to this rate direct with MGM today.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Wow the prices are great on this one.
Opinion please - I booked a Grand Tower Room for $327 for 3 nights - the price is now $297 - would anyone waste their time cancelling & rebooking for the sake of $30?
Also, for the same price as I paid, I can get a West Wing King Room. Has anyone experienced these?
Thanks0 -

$30 = £15 for the price of 1p min short phone call:think: .. money is money that $30 will probably buy a good slap up breakfast for 2 :coffee: . .
don't cancel and rebook ( just yet) ring the reservation deaprtment up and see if they will price match your existing booking to better price ( or upgrade for same price ) . if they won't then just book the new offer first and cancel the old one after new has been confirmed  .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Someone I knew you'd say that :rotfl:
Silly question, and I know I have seen it around here somewhere, but what's the best number or prefix to use? I have 1.877.880.0880 on my confirmation email.
Also, out of curiousity, do you ever have problem with some of the links for the hotels. My PC is a nightmare sometimes & it can take me ages to access them. I don't know if it's unique to my PC or is a internet explorer problem.
Thanks
PS - Flight prices are great too - they're £200 cheaper than it cost me 10 days ago but was happy with that at the time.0 -

I've changed my reservations 3 times with the MGM Grand with no problems at all, i've just booked using the new offer (thanks Trets:beer: ) gone to their website and cancelled the previous booking. Confirmation emails have been sent immediately.

MayGood luck with phoning the MGM. I had to call them as I booked online then noticed on my credit card statement that the deposit had been taken off twice.
I can't remember how long it took to get through to the first number, but it wasn't quick. They then gave me a number for Accounts and I was on the phone for a total of 1h 20m. Just as well it was only 1p/min.
Turned out there were two confirmation numbers for the same date and they refunded one, but I only ever received one confirmation email.0
